    Several more schools in Derbyshire have decided to close due to the wintry conditions. These have just been added to the county council's list, external:

    A number of primary schools in Derbyshire have also closed due to the snow and ice - Clowne Junior School, Town End Junior School in Alfreton, and Tibshelf Infant and Nursery School.

    Darley Churchtown CE Primary School will be open from 10:00.

    The cold weather has led to a few secondary schools in Derbyshire opting to close today - Lady Manners in Bakewell, Tibshelf Community School and Highfields School in Matlock.

    The cold weather has led to a trio of schools in Nottinghamshire deciding to stay closed today.

    Bulwell St Mary's C of E Primary School, Newark Orchard School and The Brunts Academy in Mansfield will all be staying shut.

    Freezing conditions overnight have led to a number of routes in the High Peak area being closed.

    These include the A57 Snake Pass, A6024 Holme Moss, A53 Leek Road and A537 Cat & Fiddle.

    Derbyshire County Council said temperatures had plummeted to -9C overnight, meaning grit fails to stop working fully to melt snow and ice, external.

    Police are warning motorists to avoid the A1 north of Peterborough this morning.

    Beds, Cambs and Herts Roads Policing Unit tweeted, external to say it is closed northbound and southbound with "extreme delays".

    Police have been called in and an investigation is underway involving a staff member at the prestigious Repton School in Derbyshire.

    Police confirmed that officers are dealing with safeguarding concerns at the school.

    Repton said it is "working with and dealing in full with the relevant external agencies".

    It added that it has "robust safeguarding procedures in place to protect" its pupils.

    Fees at Repton can cost upwards of £34,000 a year.

    Officers are concerned for the safety of a 72-year-old man who has gone missing from Swadlincote.

    Derbyshire Police said David Storer was with his family at the Railway Inn on Monday but did not return home.

    Mr Storer, who is from Linton, is described as 5ft 9ins tall and stocky with short, fair hair.
