    Proposals for an Ashbourne bypass could be about to move a step closer.

    Derbyshire County Council is putting forward plans to approve a feasibility study aimed at unlocking government funding for the construction of a bypass.

    The proposals, set to be considered by the authority's cabinet next week, follow a traffic congestion study that showed that up to 12,000 vehicles use the area's main routes every day.

    Firefighters say it's too early to say what caused a forest fire in Clumber Park last night.

    The blaze covered an area the size of three football pitches near a campsite at the Worksop attraction.

    The fire was reported to the fire service shortly before 20:00 and took about two hours to put out.

    Two men have been charged with human trafficking and running a brothel , externalfollowing a series of raids in Derby and Burton.

    The pair were arrested on Tuesday when officers searched properties in Uttoxeter New Road and Violet Street in Derby and Station Court in Burton.

    Five women are being offered specialist support at a reception centre after being identified as suspected victims of human trafficking during the raids.

    Derbyshire Police said Geza Horvath, 32, of Station Court, Burton, and Daniel Zemencsik, 27, of Uttoxeter New Road, Derby, have both been charged with conspiracy to traffic a person with a view to sexually exploiting them and controlling a brothel for the purpose of prostitution.

    Tributes have been paid to broadcaster Dale Winton following his death at the age of 62.

    Winton, who was a regular on Radio Trent in Nottingham in his early career, passed away at his home on Wednesday.

    Supermarket Sweep, arguably the presenter's most well-known show, was also filmed in the city.

    Fellow Radio Trent broadcaster David Lloyd told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's such a shock. When you pictured Dale he was always full of boundless energy and to hear he's gone is just staggering.

    "He did the mid-morning show [at Radio Trent] for years and he'd arrive during the news - he never came much before the programme started - and would screech up outside the Castle Gate offices in his huge car - Dale loved his cars - and the show began when he walked through the reception area.

    "You knew Dale had arrived - his presence filled the room. Whether he was on the air or off the air, Dale was always the same. He was always going to be the star."

    Nottinghamshire Police divers have been helping to recover ornamental stone after a 250-year-old bridge was vandalised at Clumber Park last month.

    The Grade-II listed bridge in the National Trust-owned country park, near Worksop, was badly damaged when a car was driven into it on 3 March.

    Officers searched the River Poulter near the bridge as part of a training exercise.

    The National Trust said "large quantities of stone" had been recovered and would be assessed by stonemasons at the trust.

    A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

    The man, who has since been bailed, is also suspected of arson with intent to endanger life after an accommodation block at the park had to be evacuated when it was set alight, nine days after the bridge damage.

    Firefighters tackled a second blaze - the size of three to four football pitches - in the forest at about 18:00 BST on Wednesday.

    A man has been charged with arson, external after a fire badly damaged a cottage in Ratby earlier this week.

    Large parts of the cottage had to be demolished following the blaze in Church Lane on Tuesday morning.

    Police said Paul Duffy, from Ratby, was remanded into custody and is due to appear before magistrates this morning.

    A 42-year-old man has been charged, external with the rape and attempted murder of a woman in Ilkeston.

    The victim was strangled and sexually assaulted in Queens Avenue after getting off a bus at about 04:00 on 26 November.

    Derbyshire Police said Anthony Dealey, of Erewash Square, Ilkeston, was charged with attempted murder, rape, robbery and sexual assault and will appear before magistrates today.
