A Nottinghamshire police puppy has been named Billy by a child visiting the burns unit at the Queen's Medical Centre.
The force received more than 70 name suggestions for the spaniel, including Biscuit, Fraggle, Pouncer, Sherlock and Tiddles but the Dog Section felt Billy suited him perfectly.
The puppy was taken back to the QMC today and his name was announced to the children’s ward.
Quote MessageHe’s getting quite big so it’ll be much easier to train him now that he has a name to respond to. We think Billy really suits him and we will be sure to keep you updated on his journey with us.”

A woman has told me it was "incredibly scary" when she was evacuated from her flat in Arnold.
She told me she was carrying her three-year-old nephew and covered his eyes so he wouldn't be scared.
Another woman is out in her dressing gown as she had been asleep when the evacuation began. She doesn't know when she'll be able to go back into her home.
