    Two teenage girls have pleaded guilty to affray charges in relation to the death of an Egyptian student following an attack in Nottingham city centre.

    Mariam Moustafa, 18, (pictured) was left in a coma after the attack in Upper Parliament Street on 20 February and died of a stroke three weeks later.

    The 17-year-old and 15-year-old appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

    Another 17-year-old girl pleaded not guilty.

    Three other teenagers - Mariah Fraser aged 19, and a 17-year-old and 15-year-old - did not indicate a plea.

    The two teenagers who pleaded guilty will be sentenced at Nottingham Youth Court on 26 October.

    The others will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 25 October.

    Miss Moustafa was attacked before and after boarding a bus in Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham.

    She was buried in Cairo, Egypt, in May following a memorial service in Nottingham which was attended by hundreds of mourners.

    Photos have been released of two men police want to speak to after hoverboards were stolen from a supermarket in Derbyshire.

    Police said the boards - worth hundreds of pounds - were taken from the Hilton branch of Aldi on 2 and 6 September, external.

    They're keen to hear from anyone who's been offered the hoverboards for sale or recognises the men.

    The mother of a four-year-old Nottingham girl with Down's syndrome has expressed concerns about a new test for the condition.

    Catherine Mawer said any testing for Down's creates a negative impression and expectant parents aren't given enough information.

    Catherine said her daughter Saffy has a "mild to moderate learning difficulty" with no health issues and has an average life expectancy of 60 years.

    She said: "People are living very full, happy lives. Things are changing and that's the problem with the test. The test doesn't really reflect what's going on in the Down's syndrome community."

    The charity Antenatal Results And Choices has said it welcomes a test that allows parents to get more accurate information about their baby.

    Director Jane Fisher said the screening, currently only available in private hospitals in England, is used to prepare parents for their baby.

    She said the emphasis on Down's syndrome is due to it being the most common chromosomal condition.

    The new Non-Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT) was due to be rolled out in hospitals across England next month but there's been a delay.

    Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire has the lowest rating for life satisfaction in the UK, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics, external.

    On average, people surveyed in the borough rated their level as 7.1 out of 10, compared to a national average of 7.7.

    The highest ratings in the East Midlands were in Bolsover (8.5), Blaby (8), Newark and Sherwood (8) and Rushcliffe (7.98).

    A Nottingham man has appeared in court charged with encouraging terrorism and failing to disclose information to the police.

    Mohammad Hamza Siddiq (also known as Andrew Calladine), 37, of Dale Road, Nottingham, appeared at the Old Bailey by video link from Wandsworth prison.

    He has been accused of encouraging terrorism in a Facebook post in August 2017 and failing to co-operate with police investigators this summer.

    The judge said Mr Siddiq will face a one-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court in February.

    Police said the assault happened outside The Prince Charles in Clipstone Road West, Forest Town, at about midnight on Sunday 19 August.

    A 29-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail.

    PD Axle, was injured while assisting police in Riddings in July.

    The German shepherd was treated at a vets in Derby and has returned to active duty.

    Photos have been released of a man police want to talk to about a burglary and car theft in Derby.

    A set of car keys was taken from a house in Mayfield Road, Chaddesden, on Friday before a Skoda Fabia was stolen from outside.

    The Skoda was stopped in Bangor Street a short time later and the driver briefly spoke to officers before running off.
