    A drug dealer from Nottingham has been jailed for five years and eight months today.

    Jordan Needham, 26, of Comfrey Close, Bestwood, admitted possession with intent to supply heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine.

    Police say they found a large amount of cash at his home and lots of Class A drugs in a VW Polo at his address.

    Earlier this week police closed part of Victoria Street in Somercotes when a "large quantity" of suspected cannabis was found at an old bingo hall.

    The 42-year-old victim was targetted in Seymour Street, Leicester, at about 20:10 on Wednesday, 12 September.

    A struggle broke out in which the man drags the woman across the floor before grabbing her handbag and running off.

    Det Con Michael White said: “The victim was subjected to a terrifying experience and while thankfully she was only left with minor injuries, she has been left extremely upset by the incident."

    The victim thinks she may have seen her attacker in Conduit Street shortly before the robbery.

    A 51-year-old woman from Long Eaton has gone missing.

    Ruth Kendal, who has links to the Skegness area, was reported missing on Wednesday and has not been since since Thursday, 4 October.

    Ruth is 5ft 6in, walks with a limp and sometimes uses a walking stick.

    Fancy flying to work? It would certainly help to avoid the traffic. Well, a company in Derby is hoping it could soon make this possible.

    VRCO is working on developing "flying cars" and believe the first ones will be taking to the skies in about two years.

    The ambitious idea would see the vehicles whisking passengers through the sky at 200mph. They would be powered by electricity and charged by a solar pad.

    This might sound a bit unbelievable but one of these charging pads is actually being installed at a new £10m house in Edwalton.

    If you fancy getting your hands on one of these "flying cars" you might need to start saving - they're expected to cost about £1.5m.

    A family including three young children have been removed from a "nightmare property" which had no hot water, heating or working smoke alarms.

    The Nottingham home also had live electric sockets hanging off the walls and a broken front door.

    Nottingham City Council served the Emergency Prohibition Order on the "incredibly dangerous" house earlier this week. The landlord has been issued a schedule of works to complete to make it safe.

    Landlords in Nottingham are now required to have a licence from the city council.

    Councillor Toby Neal said: “This landlord will now go to the top of the list to be dealt with by our Selective Licensing team – as well as being eligible for penalties of £30,000 it’s extremely unlikely that someone who has let out a property in this kind of condition will be given a licence to manage properties in the future.”

    The city council has joined calls for the government to increase its protection of families in private rented properties.

    A main road in Leicester will close tomorrow for the funeral procession of a local councillor.

    Leicester City Council said Councillor Mo Chohan died suddenly at home last weekend.

    Part of his funeral tomorrow will involve a procession through the Belgrave ward that he represented.

    For this to happen Belgrave Road will be closed between 10:15 and 11:30.

    It's the final day of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in Nottinghamshire.

    An anonymous witness described being raped in a children’s home, then exploited for sex by older men.

    He said: "I was prosecuted when older men paid for me to have sex with them in a public toilet - I was only 15 or 16. I can't get my head round it, I never could.

    "I was a victim and I feel now I'm being victimised again and again by the system."

    He claims he is deemed a potential threat to children because of the abuse he endured. He said this is preventing him from having a family of his own.

    Police have named a motorcyclist, external who was killed in a crash with a van in Derby earlier this week.

    Aaron Tomlinson, 28, from Chaddesden, died on his way to hospital following the crash on the A6 between Allestree and Duffield on Wednesday night.

    A 49-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving has been released while police continue their investigations.

    Police believe the same people may be responsible for spraying graffiti, damaging a derelict building and attacking 60 vehicles in the Brampton area of Chesterfield.

    The vehicles, which were parked at a compound off Factory Street had their wing mirrors damaged at some point between 11 and 15 October.

    The vandalism spree coincided with boarding being ripped from windows and doors at a derelict building in nearby Goyt Side Road and a number of graffiti "tags" appearing in the area.

    With Halloween approaching the force has launched a new campaign to try and stop calls like this being made to their 999 number.

    Last Halloween the Leicestershire Police received 1,025 of emergency and non-emergency calls between 17:00 and 21:00.

    A 25-year-old man is due to appear in court this afternoon charged with murdering a man at a park and ride in Nottingham.

    Omar Shafiq, 48, died after a crash at Forest Park and Ride on Tuesday.

    Marius Caraleanu, from the Radford area of the city, is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court accused of killing him and failing to stop.

    An 18-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail.
