  7. Girl denies luring teenager to his deathpublished at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2018

    Sandish Shoker
    BBC News

A teenager has denied that she had given information to four other defendants to attack or kill a Bulwell teenager.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of her age, has started giving evidence in a trial over the murder of 17-year-old Lyrico Steede on 13 February this year.

Previously prosecutors told Nottingham Crown Court the girl had helped “lure” Lyrico to a dark park in Bulwell, where he was fatally stabbed.

She said she had been messaging Lyrico over Snapchat for a while and that day, because they were both bored, they had arranged to meet up in Bulwell to smoke cannabis.

The teenager also told the jury she had only known one of the other defendants - Kasharn Campbell - before and had briefly told him about her plans over Snapchat to meet Lyrico.

She said she didn’t give a time to Mr Campbell and only told him when she was leaving her house.

She denied having any reason to dislike Lyrico or wanting to cause him harm and said she did not think her co-defendants had any reason to dislike him either.

The girl and four others - Kasharn Campbell, 19, Remmell Miller-Campbell, 18, and two boys aged 17 - all deny murder.

Some families have still not been able to return home after a huge fire at a garage in Derby over the weekend.

About 100 homes had to be evacuated when the blaze broke out on Twyford Street on Saturday night.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said people were asked to leave their homes because of the danger of gas cylinders involved.

Station manager Adam Bleakman said it wasn't a decision they took lightly and as a result no injuries have been reported.

He said the blaze has caused "significant damage" to the garage.

Some neighbouring properties also have severe fire and structural damage. Some of the people living in these properties still haven't been able to return home and have been put in temporary hotel accommodation.

The cause of the fire is still not known.
