    A 31-year-old man has been seriously injured in a car crash in north Derbyshire.

    Police said he was driving a Ford KA that left the A515 between Little Cubley and Sudbury at about 16:40 on Thursday.

    It's not thought any other cars were involved. Witnesses and dashcam footage are being sought by police.

    A woman from Leicester has been reunited with the paramedics who saved her life when she went into cardiac arrest four times in the same day, external.

    Sue Sturgess, 53, had been out shopping with her children and her friend in August when she became short of breath, lost colour and had little to no blood pressure.

    An ambulance crew rushed her to Leicester Royal Infirmary and despite several more cardiac arrests, Sue's life was saved.

    Paramedic Iain Peyton said: "Sue’s heart rate was the slowest I have ever seen so we knew we had to get her to hospital straight away.”

    Mrs Sturgess, who has a history of heart problems, said: "When Iain and Sarah [from the ambulance service] arrived they knew immediately that something wasn’t right. I can’t thank them enough. They saved my life.

    “The doctors told my family they didn’t expect me to survive and nurses couldn’t believe it when they saw me again in the critical care unit. They thought they would never see me again.”

    Two boys who were stabbed during a fight in Nottingham city centre on Friday night have been charged, external with inflicting grievous bodily harm, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

    The pair - aged 15 and 16, were arrested in hospital after being injured during a disturbance in Fletcher Gate at about 18:40.

    They are due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court later.

    Martin O'Neill has been appointed the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

    The ex-Aston Villa, Leicester City and Norwich boss, played 371 games and won the European Cup as a player at the City Ground.

    He takes charge after his five-year spell as manager of Ireland came to an end in November.

    Buxton's mountain rescue team was called into action yesterday afternoon when a woman injured her ankle while out walking in Macclesfield Forest.

    Team members worked with ambulance service staff to carry the stricken walker to safety on a stretcher - as well as evidently bringing an element of good humour to the situation.

    Homeless Lee Ayres spends all his time reading.

    The 29-year-old, who has spent the last four years living rough, said he has nothing better to do while on the streets and believes he has finished thousands of novels.

    He has built up such a good relationship with Westcotes Library, on Leicester's Narborough Road, they let him take out the titles despite not having an address.

    Lee has established a book group at the library where he thinks of the staff as family.

    Two boys who were arrested after being stabbed during an altercation in Nottingham city centre have been transferred from hospital to police custody, external.

    The boys, aged 15 and 16, are being questioned on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm following the fight in Fletcher Gate on Friday night, which police believe involved four people.

    A third boy, aged 16, has been released on bail after being arrested for the same offence.

    An FA Cup winner's medal presented to a goalkeeper who was forced to retire before the 1954 final is to be auctioned in Derbyshire.

    Norman Heath played more than 121 games for West Bromwich Albion, but severe neck injuries forced his retirement one month before the team went on to win.

    The medal, which will be auctioned alongside other memorabilia including a request to bring sandwiches for an away game, has been priced at £6,000.

    Football valuer Alistair Lofley said it was the "first time I've had the honour of selling an FA Cup winner's medal".

    The southbound carriageway of the A42 was blocked following a crash this morning.

    The crash, near Ashby de la Zouch, has since been cleared and traffic is starting to flow but police say it will take some time to return to normal.

    Derbyshire Police has announced plans to boost officer numbers and provide greater support for vulnerable people - funded by a rise in council tax.

    The force's proposed budget for 2019 would see 120 new members of staff, including 58 extra officers. Money would also be spent on new technology.

    The number of officers in the county has fallen by more than 400 since 2010 due to budget cuts, the force said.

    A 42-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Worksop, external.

    The pedestrian was struck by a car in Carlton Road at about 10:35 and died at the scene.

    The 55-year-old male driver is in hospital with serious injuries. Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

    A new night shelter in Ilkeston has been treating its guests to haircuts, foot treatments and Sunday roasts.

    It was established by paramedic Tracy Cunningham and is the first of its kind in the Derbyshire town.

    It offers 15 beds to homeless people and has been full since it launched on Christmas Day.
