Young people in one of the "worst places to live" in the country are split down the middle on what they think of their area, a local youth worker says.
Radio One's Newsbeat's "know your place" calculator launched today, and put Melton Mowbray in the bottom five in the country in terms of places to live when you're aged between 16 and 25.
Anthony Marvin, who works with eight to 18-year-olds, said the kids he speak to are split "50:50" on it.
He said: "A good half feel there is a lot to offer, but some feel that they are stuck in a rut and want to get out. They feel if you are born in Melton and go to school in Melton you'll stay for the rest of your life.
"It's a very close community and they feel that being there isn't going to allow them to achieve anything."
He said the schools are very popular but admitted that besides his own groups there is not much for young people to do after school, adding "there's a cinema and that's about it".
