    Buxton Mountain Rescue was called into action yesterday evening after a woman injured her ankle.

    The team was requested at 17:50 by East Midlands Ambulance Service after the woman slipped on Lathkill Dale, Derbyshire.

    She was taken to a waiting ambulance by stretcher.

    The Victoria Centre has reopened after it was evacuated due to a fire alarm this afternoon.

    The shopping precinct reopened at 14:20 this afternoon after a fire alarm was activated in the market.

    Nigel Wheatley, general manager of the shopping mall, said: "We’d like to say sorry to any shoppers who had their visit disrupted and thank them for their co-operation during the evacuation."

    A man was threatened with a brick by a group of men who took his car and cash in a robbery, police said.

    Three or four men stopped the man, 26, on Vernon Road, Old Basford at around 17:00 yesterday evening, threatening him before taking his car, £500 in cash and attempting to steal his jewellery.

    They abandoned the car a few metres down the road before making off in a black Ford Fiesta.

    Nobody was injured in the robbery.

    Police are hunting a burglar who stole cash from a 98-year-old woman in Risley.

    The break-in took place in Derby Road between 22:00 on 31 March and 04:00 on 1 April.

    Officers have appealed for witnesses and information.

    Police have shared a scam letter that has been sent to Derbyshire residents claiming they have won a £825,000 lottery jackpot, external.

    The letters tell the recipient they have scooped the money playing the International FIFA World Cup Online Lottery Program and they should make contact to arrange for the money to be paid into their bank.

    Derbyshire Police's fraud assessment officer Det Con Matthew Newell said a small number of people had received the letter in the county but there had been no reports of anyone losing money because of it.

    The force has advised anyone who receives the letter to call 101.

    Nottingham's Victoria Centre has been evacuated due to a fire alarm.

    Shoppers can be seen waiting outside on Upper Parliament Street, outside the centre.

    A spokesman for Intu confirmed it was a fire alarm in the market section.

    Hundreds of rubbish bags mysteriously dumped on derelict land in Newark could finally be removed after an appeal against the Nottinghamshire County Council enforcement order was dismissed.

    The 2,000 tonnes of waste first started to appear on the Bowbridge Road site in 2015.

    In May 2018 the authority ordered it to be removed but that was appealed by the landowner.

    A planning inspector has now dismissed the appeal, external, meaning the original enforcement notice is back in force.

    The notice orders that no further waste can be deposited on the site and that all the existing material must be removed within three months.

    The land forms part of a wider site which is allocated for 66 new homes. It previously had planning permission for a 64-bed nursing home.

    A man has been found dead in Long Eaton, police have said, external.

    The body was found at about 02:00 between the River Erewash and the Erewash Canal, near to the junction of Cavendish Road and Bennett Street.

    Derbyshire Police said they were working to recover the body and an investigation was under way into the circumstances of the man's death.

    The death of two people in house fire in Kirby Muxloe is currently being treated as "unexplained".

    Leicestershire Police have said they are continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal blaze on Church Road last Friday.

    Emergency services were called to the house in the early hours of the morning.

    The man and woman, who were pronounced dead at the scene, have yet to be formally identified.

    Remember Liam Wildish - the Retford window cleaner who was voluntarily sprucing up road signs?

    He's told the BBC he's been overwhelmed by the response to his work.

    Millions of people have seen the BBC video of Mr Wildish cleaning signs around Nottinghamshire.

    Now, he's become a bit of a celebrity.

    "I try to remain quite pretty humble but you can't help but notice it," he said.

    "If you've got your Clean Scene t-shirt on you see people out shopping tapping their wives and pointing, 'it's him', it is quite humorous."

    Since the video went live he's heard from people wanting to get involved or send him products to enable him to keep up the good work.

    A doctor, who lost her licence over the death of a six-year-old boy, is attempting to regain permission to practise.

    In November 2015 Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba was convicted of manslaughter by gross negligence following the death of Jack Adcock at Leicester Royal Infirmary in 2011.

    She was given a two year jail sentence, suspended for two years.

    Bawa-Garba was originally suspended from the medical register for a year in June 2017 but was later struck off by the General Medical Council (GMC).

    She appealed the decision and it was later overturned and the lesser sanction of a one-year suspension was restored. This was later extended.

    Today her case called at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) to determine whether or not she can return to practise.

    The tribunal heard from Dr Johnathan Cusack, her educational supervisor. He said he had first met her in 2008 when she worked with him in neonatal practice and described her as having "good clinical skills" and was a "well liked member of the team."He went on to say he came across her again in 2014, three years after the fatal incident, when he said she was "much more subdued" and said "clearly what had happened had affected her."

    Dr Bawa-Garba will give evidence via video link. The hearing continues.

    Leicester Falcons will field a women's American Football team for the first time this coming season.

    The team will initially be made up of University of Derby players, who will be moving to the Falcons after head coach Gareth Ellison stood down due to family commitments.

    Guy Kersey, President of the Leicester Falcons, said: "We’re all delighted to be bringing the Derby Braves Women’s team into the Falcons Academy.

    "This is a great and natural addition to our existing U17, U19 and senior teams and we’ll readily be able to assist with quality coaching, recruitment and infrastructure."

    A mum from Bestwood has described how she prevented her son from becoming involved in a gang.

    Jo noticed her son bringing things home that weren't his, wearing clothes she didn't recognise and him staying out late. She also found out that he was carrying a knife.

    Jo said she gave her son a choice; to get involved with the gang and leave home, or stay with her and work through the issues together. That tough ultimatum worked, and her son is now studying at college.

    "It was the hardest thing I've ever done because I had to sit him down and put it on the table," she said

    "Literally, 'I'm going to throw you out - I can't live like this I've got other children to protect, or we sort this out together and you get out of it'."

    She's now working on a website to help other families like hers to find help and support and keep other young people away from gangs.

    A busy route around Leicester will close later for the first of two nights.

    From 19:00 London Road will be closed inbound from De Montfort Street to Waterloo Way. Waterloo Way will also be closed from London Road towards Regent Road.

    Both roads will reopen by 06:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

    The closure is part of a wider scheme, external by the city council to make London Road a "safer and more attractive route" for cyclists and pedestrians.

    A person in Nottinghamshire called 999 to complain furniture delivered to their home was not what they had ordered.

    They asked the emergency call handler to send an officer round to talk to the delivery driver.

    Nottinghamshire Police shared details of the call to highlight misuse of the 999 service.

    A spokesman said: "Every misplaced call our emergency call handlers receive has the potential to delay us from responding to genuine emergencies."
