    A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a vehicle collided with a parked car in a Derby street.

    Derbyshire Police were called to Woods Lane where a Toyota Rav-4 was found flipped on its side at about 21:30 on Monday.

    The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to St Mary’s Wharf Police Station, where he remains in custody.

    A Nottingham road has been closed because of a crash involving a moped which has left a man with life-threatening injuries.

    Police confirmed no other vehicle was involved in the crash which happened on Triumph Road in Lenton at about 20:15 last night.

    They closed the road this morning and the man remains in hospital.

    No arrests have been made.

    Environmental protesters have given Nottingham's famous Robin Hood statue a new look.

    They added an Extinction Rebellion symbol made from holly, a sign and a bandana to the statue of the outlaw outside Nottingham Castle.

    Nottingham City Council officers spotted the additions this morning and removed them "in an effort to prevent any damage".

    It's impossible to say what Robin Hood would have made of it - but he was always a bit of a green (clad) rebel.

    Police have been giving out hampers from a local care home to crime victims in Bilborough

    Mulberry Court Care Home made up the hampers and then approached the force to find victims of crime and anti-social behaviour who might like to be treated.

    PC Ian Robinson organised the deliveries and said: "This is a fantastic gesture by the Mulberry Court Care Home. We are privileged to be able to join their team and help spread some festive cheer.

    Officers arrested two BMW drivers after they tried to involve an unmarked police car in a race on the M1 near Loughborough last night.

    Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said three men from London were using the motorway as a "racetrack" before they tried to involve the cop and described it as the "fail of the week".

    One driver - a 22-year-old - was arrested for testing positive for cannabis. Another, a 23-year-old, was charged with a number of drugs and driving offences and has since been released on bail.

    The two most senior bosses at Nottingham-based Robin Hood Energy have been terminated as directors of the company.

    In 2015, Nottingham City Council became the first local authority to launch an energy company in the UK.

    The departures come days before the firm has to publish its annual accounts.

    Company documents show Gail Scholes, the former chief executive, and Robert Bain, the former managing director, stepped down on 16 December.

    The information was published by Companies House, external on Friday.

    A spokesman for Robin Hood Energy said three new faces, from energy backgrounds, had been brought in to act as interim CEO, interim financial director and a board adviser.

    “Due to an ongoing internal process it’s not appropriate to make any further comment at this stage," he said.

    Councillor David Mellen, the leader of Nottingham City Council, said the authority was "committed" to the energy firm.

    A man has been jailed for life for the attempted murder of his wife who he repeatedly stabbed at their home.

    Nottinghamshire Police said Habibullah Faizi, of Bobbers Mill, Nottingham, attacked his wife in January 2018.

    A family member raised the alarm to neighbours, who called the police and confronted Faizi at the house, the force added.

    He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder but was found guilty after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

    Faizi must serve a minimum of 10 years in prison and was given a restraining order for life.

    Det Sgt David Beach, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a brutal attack which could have had a tragic outcome if it wasn't for the intervention of family, neighbours and medical professionals."

    Emergency services are continuing to search the River Soar in Mountsorrel today after reports of a person falling in.

    Leicestershire Police said they were called at 17:15 last night by a member of the public who reported seeing a light, like a head torch, and then someone falling into the river.

    The force said searches last night had to be abandoned due to "a lack of visibility" but they have resumed this morning, with help from the fire service and Water Safe UK.
