    A man arrested after the death of another man at a nightclub in Leicestershire has been released under investigation.

    The 32-year-old was held on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and being concerned in the supply of a class A drug.

    Emergency services arrived at the club on Belvoir Road, Coalville, following a report a man had taken ill at about 01:20 GMT on Sunday.

    Leicestershire Police said he died at the scene and his death was being treated as unexplained.

    Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust has said it is treating a patient with confirmed Covid-19 at King's Mill Hospital in Nottinghamshire.

    The trust said: "Every infection prevention precaution is being taken and staff caring for the patient are trained and equipped to do so safely."

    It has advised, external patients with outpatient and inpatient appointments to still come to hospital "unless they have a new onset cough or fever".

    The Derby 10K, which was due to take place on Sunday 29 March, has been postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

    A campaign is being stepped up for legislation to protect shop workers from rising levels of violence, abuse and assaults.

    Alex Norris - the Labour MP for Nottingham North - is set to put forward a private member's bill following an industry survey which revealed incidents have increased to more than 400 a day.

    The Co-op said its latest data showed a four-fold increase in violent incidents and abuse in its stores since 2017.

    A Freedom of Information request by the Co-op revealed two out of every three incidents reported in its stores do not lead to the police attending.

    Mr Norris said: "If we give shop workers responsibilities to uphold the law on sales of a range of products which Parliament has determined can only be sold to people above a certain age, then shop workers should be afforded protection in carrying out those public duties.

    "The bill appeals for a reset in society, with a very clear message sent that it is not part of the job for shop workers to suffer abuse and violence and Parliament establishing a new expectation by legislating for what is acceptable and, the police given the resources to implement this new legislation."

    An apple tree which was grown in space has been planted at a new observatory in south Derbyshire.

    The Peter Bolas Observatory in Rosliston officially opened at the weekend and will house several pieces of kit for keen astronomers.

    To mark the opening, an apple tree sapling - grown from seeds taken into space by astronaut Tim Peake - was planted.

    Ed Mann, manager of the observatory, said the seeds for the tree were taken by Mr Peake from Isaac Newton's apple tree in Lincolnshire to test how things grow in microgravity.

    In six months they turned into eight little saplings and the UK Space Agency had been looking for new homes for them.

    A Leicestershire school has been closed after a member of staff went into self-isolation.

    St Peter and St Paul Academy in Syston confirmed the employee had developed a high temperature and cough.

    They have not yet been tested for coronavirus but the school has been shut for a deep clean as a precaution.

    The closure has only been confirmed for a day but officials said further updates would be released as the situation became clearer.

    Hospitals across the East Midlands have begun restricting visitors and visiting times to protect vulnerable patients from coronavirus.

    Most have now banned children from the wards in order to reduce the risk of people bringing infection into hospital.

    Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs King's Mill Hospital, said there can be no more than two visitors per patient and any under the age of 16.

    The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Trust has also changed their visiting arrangements, external in a bid to protect staff and patients.

    New measures have also come into effect at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester General Hospital.

    The trust that runs the hospitals said visiting is now only from 18:00 until 20:00, with no more than two visitors.

    A man in his 90s has become the second person in the East Midlands to die after contracting coronavirus.

    He was being treated at the Queen's Medical Centre, which says it continues to follow the appropriate infection control guidelines to provide safe and effective care.

    The Department of Health said 14 more patients have died in England after testing positive for Covid-19.

    NHS England said the patients whose deaths were announced on Sunday were aged between 59 and 94, and they all had underlying health conditions.
