    Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged people not to travel in the snowy conditions if journeys are not essential.

    The county council has warned the A515 at Brierlow Bar, the A537 Cat and Fiddle and the A5004 Long Hill are all closed because of snow or accidents.

    Six schools and nurseries confirmed they would be closed today due to the snowy conditions.

    Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Ashbourne and Anthony Gell School in Wirksworth both said details of remote learning would be sent to parents and pupils.

    In Buxton, Fairfield Infant and Nursery School, Harpur Hill Primary School and Nursery, and Flagg Nursery are closed.

    Longstone Primary School in Great Longstone is also shut.

    A crash involving a van has closed a road in Buxton as snow continues to fall across Derbyshire.

    Derbyshire Police said officers were called at about 08:35 GMT to the A5004 Long Hill.

    No injuries have been reported, but motorists are advised to avoid the area.
