    Cornish Pirates boss Ian Davies was delighted with his improving side after seeing them beat Nottingham 19-7 in the British and Irish Cup.

    Craig Holland scored a try and Laurence May kicked 14 points for Pirates, who have won both cup games so far.

    "We've never lost our confidence, that's the issue," Davies said. "Lots of people have been panicking and doing petitions to get Ian Davies out, but it doesn't matter, we're confident in the group that we've got."

    A woman arrested in connection with a bomb threat at a primary school, external in Tiverton has been released on police bail.

    Officers evacuated Heathcoat Primary School on Friday morning and later arrested a 32-year-old woman in connection with the incident. Police have since confirmed it was a hoax call and no-one was in any danger.  

    The woman has been released on police bail until 12 February 2016, pending further inquiries.

    A disabled patient in Cornwall who suffered delays in getting equipment says she has been left "frustrated" by such delays.

    Hundreds of people reliant on NHS equipment to help them move around have reported waiting lists of up to a year. Healthwatch Cornwall found the service left "already vulnerable people at more risk of harm". 

    Caliper user Evelyn Mann, who lives in Bodmin, said: "Well, you get very frustrated and your life is passing you by, waiting form something, that is hopefully keeping you on your feet. Without the caliper, I'd be in a wheelchair all the time." NHS Kernow said waiting times were improving.

    A car has been severely damaged and a second one partially damaged in a fire in Yealmpton, Devon and Somerset Fire Servicesays, external.

    Fire crews were called to Tappers Lane at about 04:20 after "multiple calls to a vehicle fire" on a driveway. The second vehicle was damaged because it was parked beside the vehicle which caught fire.

    Police were called to the scene.

  9. Health trust sees increase in malnutrition admissionspublished at 10:13

    A Devon health trust has seen an increase of more than 25% in cases of patients with malnutrition within three years, figures from a Freedom of Information request by the BBC show.

    The South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust had 41 hospital admissions in 2012. It increased to 56 in 2014. 

    The trust had 143 such cases from 2012-14. The government said that malnutrition was "unacceptable".

    The cause of a blaze in a two-storey building in Penzance is thought to be arson, external, fire crews have said.

    Firefighters from the town and St Just tackled the blaze at the derelict building in St Clare Street overnight. No-one is thought to have been injured.

    A mother and daughter who werehit by a vehicle while on Torquay seafront remain in hospital, police have said.

    Both were seriously injured in the crash on Sunday, but the six-year-old girl is now in a stable condition.

    The woman, 35, remains in Derriford Hospital in a "life-threatening" condition.

    - In Devon, at Eggesford on the A377 near the station we've got reports there has been an accident.

    - Near Blackmoor Gate, the A399 is partially blocked due to an accident. There is ice on the road and police are asking drivers to approach with care. 

    - Near Okehampton on the B3217 close to the turning for Abbeyford Woods there has been a collision.

    - At High Bullen on the B3227 near Dodscott Cross there has also been an accident.

    - In Totnes on the A385 around Cross Park temporary traffic lights are causing delays.

    Hundreds of disabled patients reliant on NHS equipment to help them move have suffered delays of up to a year, a BBC investigation has revealed.

    Complaints by patients using equipment including leg braces and neck collars prompted a review of the service by Healthwatch Cornwall, which found the delays left "vulnerable people at more risk of harm".   

    NHS Kernow said it was confident the issue was under control and waiting times were improving.

  19. Woman and girl, 6, suffer 'life-threatening' injuries after being hit by vehiclepublished at 08:06

    A 35-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter have been seriously hurt after they were hit by a vehicle while walking on Torquay seafront.

    They are said to have suffered potentially "life-threatening" injuries in the crash on Corbyn Head yesterday. Three ambulances were called to the scene, where the vehicle driver, a 53-year-old local man, was also injured.

    All were taken to Torbay Hospital. The road was closed for several hours.
