    The Reds' 26-13 win at Chinnor on Saturday meant they surpassed last season's points total with 10 games left to play.

    Larkins told BBC Cornwall: "Right from pre-season we got the right players and quality into the squad, they enjoy each other's company and play for each other."

    An organic farm in Devon says it is having to change its harvesting schedules because a mild and wet winter is causing one crop ready six months early.

    Guy Watson, from Riverford Organics, said: "We've had three very mild months, particularly November and December... That's brought crops forward: the swedes are a month ahead and the savoy cabbage six months. That's making planning for our vegetable boxes a little bit difficult."

    An American man in Falmouth who was threatened with deportation says he's been given a temporary reprieve. 

    Thomas Podgoretsky, 71, who's lived in Cornwall since 1970, was due to be kicked out of the UK on Saturday. 

    The Home Office told him he'd lost his right to stay in the UK because he visited the United States and then stayed for more than two years. His case has been taken up by his local MP and sparked a petition by local people.

    Anti-wind farm campaigners are angry that North Devon council could be opening the door to more turbines.

    The district council has recently endorsed, as its "preferred" option, plans for the whole area to become a potentially suitable area for wind energy development.

  10. Charities 'see rise in numbers of autistic children'published at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2016

    Charities who work with autistic children say there has been a rise in the number of school pupils being recognised and diagnosed with the condition.  

    More than 2,500 children are currently officially classed as having autism in Devon and Cornwall.

    The government's recently announced extra funding to support children with Special Educational Needs but parents and charities say that alone is  not enough.

    Redundancy talks have started at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, external, managers have confirmed.

    Bosses at the museum in Falmouth, which has more than 30 staff, said they were "reviewing its structure" and had "opened discussions with its team offering voluntary redundancies and consultations" because of a financial deficit and cuts in funding.  

    Director Richard Doughty said: "We are trying to do this with the minimum of disruption to our staff. However, to protect the future of the museum, there will be some job losses."

    Exeter Chiefs fly-half Gareth Steenson should be in the Ireland squad, according to team-mate Ian Whitten.

    Steenson, 31, was capped at youth level by Ireland, but has spent most of his career in England and has been a key member of the Exeter team.

    "There aren't that many good 10's in Ireland," said Whitten, who has two caps for Ireland. "I have to say that Gareth Steenson's been very, very unlucky not to have been capped by Ireland."

    A road in Exeter has been closed after a vehicle hit a railway bridge which carries the line to London Waterloo.

    It happened in Summer Lane, near the Exeter Arena. 

    Police officers are on site and buses have been diverted.

    More than 35 police officers and staff in Devon and Cornwall were assaulted in a month while working, a senior officer says.

    East Cornwall police commander Supt Ian Drummond-Smith tweeted, external that a staff assault report showed 36 staff and officers were "assaulted in the execution of their duties in January".

    A Cornish businessman who decided to post a powerful picture of himself on social media while having treatment for prostate cancer said he just wanted to make more people aware of the disease.

    The picture on Facebook, external shows 44-year-old Kurt Jewson, from Helston, with a catheter and colostomy bag.

    He said: "I took this, and then I thought: 'Do you know what? If I share this and wrote a few words, some of my mates just might take note and think about it'. And they did, and shared it".
