    A Plymouth University lecturer has raised hundreds of pounds to provide solar-powered cookers for people in Africa.

    Karen Treasure will be travelling to Zambia to distribute the cookers which, because they don't require wood to burn, could help alleviate the country's deforestation problem.

    A park in Buckfastleigh used by young people in the area has been awarded a grant of £200,000. 

    Victoria Park has received funding from Viridor Credits Environmental Company, for a skate park and play equipment.

    It's considered the next step in the regeneration of the town.

    It means crops need harvesting weeks or even months early. It's also been difficult to get vegetables out of the ground due to the muddy conditions.

    A Cornish designer hopes a piece of public art, condemned to the scrap heap six years ago, could be resurrected after interest by the conservation group, Historic England. 

    Falmouth cubes

    The huge modernist fibreglass wall was commissioned in the 1980s for a supermarket in Falmouth.

    It was torn down in 2009 but will now feature in a London exhibition called Our Post-War public art, external after some of the panels were saved by local man Nick Dobson.

    - The traffic lights have failed at the Charles Cross Roundabout in Plymouth. Approach with care.

    - In West Hill, West Hill Road is closed between Elsdon Lane and Higher Broad Oak Road, due to a large hole in road. Diversions are in place.

    - The A373 near Awliscombe is partially blocked by an accident near Weston Lane and the off-road driving centre. Traffic is busy but moving.

    - In South Brent, there are reports of an accident on the B3372 near Harwell Lane.

    - On the A388 in Launceston there has been a collision on Western Road.
