    All flights between Bristol Airport and Brussels have been cancelled until Wednesday morning in the wake of the explosions that have struck Brussels airport, managers say.

    At least 13 deaths have been reported by Belgian media after two blasts tore through departures area of Zaventem airport shortly after 08:00 local time (07:00 GMT) and an explosion hit Maelbeek metro station an hour later.

    Managers at Bristol, external and Exeter, external airports said staff were maintaining high levels of vigilance, and additional security patrols and measures were in place. Passengers have been advised to contact airlines directly.

    RNLI lifeguards have been training for their return to a number of beaches in Devon and Cornwall for the Easter holidays.

    Safety cover will be provided on 14 beaches over the two week break: Praa Sands, Sennen, Porthmeor, Gwithian, Porthtowan, Perranporth, Harlyn, Polzeath, Widemouth and Summerleaze, Woolacombe, Croyde and Bantham.

    Over the four day Easter weekend, RNLI lifeguards will also be patrolling Hayle Towans, Towan, Watergate Bay and Constantine in Cornwall, while Fistral beach in Newquay has full time lifeguard cover from 25 March through to the end of October.

    More than 700 children are being educated at home in Devon - an all-time high.

    A report for Devon County Council alleged schools had been encouraging students to leave school because they would have a negative impact on exam league tables.

    Others are being taken out of school to avoid permanent exclusion, to avoid fines or prosecution for non-attendance, and to attend more appropriate part-time courses at a further education college.

    Hayle and St Ives Police have warned people of a partial collapse of the Carnsew Quay wall in the Hayle Harbour area.

    Officers said on Facebook, external: "It has been fenced off and the Harbour Authority is asking people to keep away from the damaged area."

    Lord Myners of Truro is to become the next Chancellor of the University of Exeter.

    The former government minister - who has led some of the UK's best known businesses, including Marks & Spencer - takes over the role from Floella Benjamin in June, when she steps down after 10 years in the post.  

    The cross-bench member of the House of Lords was brought up in Truro by adoptive parents.

    A family from Dartmouth are trying to get compensation rules changed after their son died in an accident at work.

    Dumper truck driver Ben Sewell, was killed at a recycling centre in 2012. The current bereavement compensation following such a fatal accident is just under £13,000. But, in this case, his family weren't eligible for money as the 30-year-old was considered too old and was not married.

    Under a civil claim, they were awarded £16,000 for loss of rental income because Ben was living at home. They said it was not about the money, but that there needed to be "more fairness" after their lives were "completely devastated".

    Motorists in the South West are being warned to expect more traffic on the roads this Easter weekend. 

    The AA asked more than 24,000 drivers about their plans. Of those, about 55% said they intended to make a trip during the Bank Holiday weekend - up from 47% last year.

    The M5 westbound approaching Exeter is expected to be one of the busiest stretches of road in the country.
