    Eight rare Brough bikes found on Bodmin Moore in December last year have sold at auction for £752,625.

    One of the bikes, a 1938 Brough Superior 750cc BS4 sold for £330,000, breaking the record for the most expensive bike sold at auction.

    Brough bikes were made famous by TE Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia, who owned eight of them.

    People in Cornwall are being asked for their views, external on how and where more sites for gypsies, travellers and travelling showpeople could be provided by the council.

    More than the current three public sites are needed and evidence suggests that by 2030 Cornwall will need an additional 318 residential pitches, Cornwall Council said

    The council previously admitted it had no "alternative site" for a traveller who had raised her family in a car park in Coverack, after she was served an eviction notice.

    Help for Heroes said a Plymouth-based Army captain who collapsed four miles from the finishing line of the London Marathon was their "friend and hero".

    Afghanistan veteran David Seath, a fire support team commander for 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, based in Plymouth, had a cardiac arrest near the 23-mile mark near Southwark Bridge. 

    Mr Seath's friends are planning to complete the marathon in his honour, starting at the place where he collapsed. They are raising money for Help For Heroes, a cause he had "ran and died for".

    A woman from north Devon whose two children both had meningitis says we "need to get prevention" for all children, as MPs debate whether young children should receive the meningitis B vaccine as well as newborn babies.

    Jodie Cross' daughters, Millie and Lydia, were given slim chances of survival when they were both diagnosed with the infection in 2003.

    Politicians only seem to look "short-term, they don't look long-term", Mrs Cross said.

    About 3,000 people turned out to a free one-day exhibition showcasing Plymouth's part in the story of the Titanic.

    On 15 April 1912 RMS Titanic sank with the loss of more than 1,500 lives - almost two thirds of those on board.

    Two weeks later the first survivors from the crew came ashore at Plymouth's Millbay Docks.

    An army captain who collapsed four miles from the finishing line of the London Marathon has died.

    Afghanistan veteran David Seath, who was based in Plymouth with the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, had a cardiac arrest near the 23-mile mark near Southwark Bridge. 

    He received immediate medical attention and was rushed to St Thomas' Hospital but died later.

    The University of Exeter has been overtaken by Bath as the South West's top university, according to the latest national league table.

    Of the 12 regional institutions included in the survey, 10 have fallen down the ranks. The only climber in Devon, Plymouth University, is currently ranked 84th in the country.

    The annual table considers student satisfaction and research quality as part of its criteria.

    A man who was pulled from the River Lemon at Newton Abbot is in a "stable condition" in hospital.

    The man, in his sixties, had serious, "potentially life threatening" head injuries when he was rescued byfire crews on Saturday.

    A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the man was taken to Torbay Hospital and then transferred to Derriford Hospital for treatment.

    A new partnership has been formed to promote beach safety and clean bathing waters.

    Beachwise is supported by various organisations, including the Environment Agency and Visit Cornwall.

    The online site will give advice on topics such as understanding the different beach flags, tides and rip currents.

    A family from north Devon is backing the call for the Meningitis B vaccine to be made available to older children, as well as babies.

    Millie and Lydia Cross from Braunton both contracted meningitis and septicaemia as infants with Lydia, now 15, having had both legs amputated. Their mother Jodie has been leading the call for the vaccine to become more widely available.

    MPs will debate an e-petition today calling for more funding, but the department of health says extending the vaccine to older children is "not cost effective".

    It means all five of the swimmers can be considered for selection for Rio.

    A rare motorcycle discovered in a barn in Cornwall has set a new world record by selling for more than £300,000 at auction.

    The 1938 Brough Superior 750cc BS4 was one of eight iconic Brough Superiors found on Bodmin Moor in December last year, which were previously thought to have been destroyed.

    Together the eight bikes, described by auctioneers Bonhams as the "last known collection" of unrestored Broughs, fetched £752,625.

    The 29 year sevens from Launceston College are playing fairies in a special touring production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, together with stars from the Royal Shakespeare company.

    Poppy seeds will be scattered today in honour of those who lost their lives in the Plymouth Blitz.

    Nearly 1,200 people died in Plymouth due to the bombings carried out by German aircraft during World War Two.

    The seeds, which were blessed by the Bishop of Plymouth during a remembrance service on Sunday, will be planted around Charles Church - a bombed out ruin left as a permanent reminder of those who died.
