    People got to see some of the world's rarest and most valuable cars in a charity fundraising event in St Mawes this week.

    The most valuable was a Ferrari Testarossa (below) worth millions of pounds, owned by John Lewis from Gloucestershire.

    There has been a 22.8% turnout for the election of Police and Crime Commissioner in Devon and Cornwall.

    The count is still underway to determine which of the six candidates will take on the role. The turnout for the ballot in 2012 was 15%. 

    Rather than people being engaged with the Police and Crime Commissioner concept, it could be the fact that there have been other votes going on, as in Exeter and Plymouth, that could have helped the turnout.

    Forensic experts have found "nothing of significance" in a four-day excavation at the former Devon home of a paedophile couple linked to the child murderers Fred and Rose West.

    Police were understood to be searching for the body of a baby at the property in Bradninch, previously owned by David and Pauline Williams who were jailed last year for putting 10 girls and boys through rape, sexual assault and beatings.

    Labour has retained control of Exeter City Council with an increased majority in the local elections. The party made gains from the Conservatives, external as it won 30 of the 39 seats on the council.

    The Labour group gained four seats while the Conservatives lost four, leaving the Conservatives with eight and the Liberals Democrats with one.

    Control of Plymouth City Council hangs in the balance as no party managed to win a majority, external.

    Cornish Pirates prop Adam Jamieson has been forced to retire after failing to recover from a neck injury.

    The former England Under-20 international joined the Pirates from Bath in 2014 and made 26 appearances for the Championship club.

    "It's a huge shock and a tough pill to swallow, as I never thought I would be in this position at just turning 22," said Jamieson.

    The people of St Ives have voted overwhelmingly in favour of preventing new second homes being built in an historic referendum.

    Amy Milton, 29, who rents in St Ives, said: "it's jam-packed with holiday lets, but hopefully this ban will make it stop.

    "In winter, it's very eerie when you finish work with minimal lights on around the town. Hopefully it might mean I will be able to get on to the property ladder."

    Torquay United manager Kevin Nicholson has signed a new three-year contract.

    The 35-year-old joined the club as player-manager last September after Paul Cox left and guided the club to survival in the National League, having been 12 points from safety in February. 

    "I'm absolutely delighted, and the board's decision to appoint him last September has been vindicated," chairman David Phillips told BBC Sport.

    The people of St Ives have made it very clear they do not want any new second homes built, after an historic referendum. Almost half the town turned out to vote.

    The 36-year-old defender, who took up a coaching role at St James Park last year, has not featured in City's first team since the end of February.

    "Regarding the playing, I know in my head that things are slowly coming to an end," he told BBC Sport. "I'm not knocking on (manager) Paul Tisdale's door asking why I'm not playing every week, that's for sure."
