    There will be a few mist patches around at first this morning. They will quickly clear to leave a day of variable amounts of cloud with bright and warm sunny spells. it will be sunnier in the east and cloudier in the west, especially this afternoon.

    There is a slight chance of the odd shower during the afternoon. Winds will be light mainly easterly, becoming onshore as sea breezes set in this afternoon. Maximum temperature: 17-22C (63-73F).

    A man from Cornwall who was left paralysed after a carjacking incident in South Africa has walked for the first time in 17 years.

    Bruno Hansen, who lives in Truro, has been trying a pair of bionic legs.

    The adaptive surfing champion - who has previously been dubbed "Indiana Jones on wheels" because of his high-octane exploits such as free diving - hopes to raise the money to buy them by competing in three sporting challenges around the world.

    Veterans of the Normandy landings will be on parade in Torquay today for the last time.

    Previous D-Day memorial event

    The memorial event has been an annual fixture in the town's calendar but with the number of veterans dwindling, organisers have decided this will be the last. 

    After a wreath laying ceremony, two local veterans will be presented with the Legion d'Honneur - France's highest award in recognition of their bravery.
