    A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a 37-year-old woman in Plymouth.

    Victoria Bance was found seriously injured by police who were called to Grimspound Close at 01:35 on Sunday, officers said. She died later in hospital.

    Robert Bance, 53, of Grimspound Close, appeared via videolink before city magistrates, charged with her murder. He entered no plea and the case was referred to crown court, where he is due to appear on Tuesday. He remains in custody.

    Police in Torquay are investigating two 11-year-old boys being assaulted by a group last week, officers say, external.

    One boy was punched, leaving swelling to his face, and the other was pushed into the road, causing a vehicle to brake sharply, when they were attacked in Abbey Road on Tuesday 4 October.

    They were attacked by four boys, believed to be around 13 to 14 years old. One of the group of four boys had blonde hair, the others had dark hair, officers said. Police appealed for witnesses.

    The fire service has warned of the importance of properly fitted working smoke alarms after a fire ripped through a bungalow in Seaton, Devon.

    Three fire crews went to the house on West Acres, Seaton at 16:00 on Sunday. Everyone was out of the property and no-one was injured.

    The pictures were shared on Seaton Fire Station's Facebook page, external with firefighters saying: "These images highlight the need for properly fitted working smoke alarms. Fires do happen, protect yourselves and your loved ones."

    The 23-year-old suffered a significant tear in his quad and is likely to miss the autumn internationals having become the latest player to get hurt during England's training camp in Brighton.

    "He was loaded pretty heavily on Monday, far heavier than we would have loaded him with his training," Baxter said.

    A man will appear in court charged with murder following the death of a 37-year-old woman in Plymouth.

    Police were called to an address in Grimspound Close at 01:35 on Sunday with a report of a seriously injured woman - she was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Derriford Hospital, where she later died.

    The man will appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court today.

    A man and a woman have been arrested after the theft of a police car from a police station in Cornwall which later had to be stopped in Berkshire, about 230 miles away.

    Devon and Cornwall Police said Camelford Police Station was burgled on Friday night and the keys were "stolen to a marked police car". 

    The car was taken and stopped on the M4, heading east, after officers used a stinger device near Junction 7, a turn-off for Slough.

    Police said a 23-year-old male and a 31-year-old female, both from Camelford, were due before magistrates in Truro later to face charges of suspicion of burglary, theft and dangerous driving.

    Devon and Cornwall's senior traffic police officer, Ch Insp Adrian Leisk, is highlighting the issue of motorists passing cyclists too closely. 

    The Highway Code doesn't have a legal passing distance and Ch Insp Leisk said he wanted it made clearer to motorists to reflect the increase in popularity in cycling.

    Footage of a call for help from a seven-year-old Afghan boy who was suffocating in a sealed lorry has been obtained by the BBC

    The boy, called Ahmed, sent a text message on a phone given to him in Calais by Devon charity worker Liz Clegg, saying he was running out of "oksijan" - meaning oxygen. Ms Clegg was being filmed as part of a documentary. 

    She alerted police and Ahmed and 14 adults were found in a container at services on the M1 after arriving from the Calais migrant camp, commonly known as the Jungle. Ahmed is now living in the UK and has been reunited with Ms Clegg.

    A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Plymouth early on Sunday.

    Officers were called to a property in Grimspound Close in the Leigham area of the city at about 01:30 and found a 37-year-old woman with serious injuries. She was taken to Derriford Hospital where she later died. 

    Police said they were treating the death as a "domestic incident".
