Proposals are being considered to rebuild the South West's main railway line in part of Devon because of it being repeatedly battered by storms.

Network Rail wants to build a 400m (1,300ft) causeway near Teignmouth about 30 yards out to sea in a project possibly costing up to £500m. It would replace the flood-hit Dawlish line, which connects the region to the rest of the country.

Tracks in the area have suffered severe damage in the past, with them left dangling in mid-air in the wake of storms in 2014. The line was closed for several weeks in March 2014 and cost the economy up to £1.2bn.

    Incinerator

Is it your understanding that the incinerator is dealing with all of Cornwall's waste? Well, you'd be wrong. It only handles domestic waste that fits certain criteria, and it's causing real problems for companies that handle trade waste.

Cornwall Council said it "appreciates the challenge that some businesses are having to find suitable outlets for their commercial and industrial waste", but added it was "not our statutory function to do so".

    Plymouth Hoe

Between 2005 and 2015 coastguards dealt with more than 200 incidents of tombstoning, with 83 injuries and 20 deaths.
