    Torquay United manager Kevin Nicholson says he expects at least one new loan signing in his squad for the trip to Guiseley on Saturday.

    The club have not won a game since the start of October and are currently 18th in the National League.

    "We had three or four players fall through over the last 48 hours," Nicholson told BBC Sport.

    "But I would expect that at least one will be in for the weekend."

    A clamp down on new second homes in St Ives can go ahead, after Cornwall Council won a legal battle.

    It follows a referendum in May which had been challenged in the High Court.

    More than 80% of voters backed a neighbourhood housing plan for St Ives which included a clause that any new builds would only get planning permission if they are reserved for full-time residents.

    A firm of Penzance architects challenged Cornwall Council's decision to allow the referendum in the first place. But today the High Court has ruled the policy is compatible with human rights, and the outcome of the referendum stands.

    A man flying a light aircraft which crashed at Perranporth Airfield said the initial part of take off felt normal, according to a report. 

    The 64-year-old man and his female passenger managed to get out of the Piper Cherokkee Warrior II plane after it crashed and before it burst into flames on 11 August.

    The pair were travelling from Scilly to the Blackbushe Airport in Hampshire, when they decided to stop at Perranporth to refuel.

    The plane crashed on take off. 

    An Air Accident Investigation Branch report into the cause of the crash said damage to the propeller indicates that at impact the engine was running at the time of the crash. It says it's possible that downdraft turbulence from the upwind sea cliffs may have contributed to the descending flight path during the latter stages of takeoff.

    A charity in Cornwall which supports farmers in need says it's "never known a year like it".

    The Farming Community Network which supports farmers who are struggling with debt, depression and loneliness, says it's busier than ever.

    They've given out grants of £80,000 to farmers in the county this year to cover things like heating bills, the cost of school uniforms and even supermarket vouchers.

    Exeter prop Tomas Francis is set to start for Wales in their Test match against Argentina on Saturday.

    Francis, who signed a new contract at Exeter in the summer, will win his 16th cap for his country, haivng come on as a replacement in the 32-8 loss to Australia last week.

    But the game in Cardiff will be just his sixth start for Wales and just his second for his country in over a year.

    The A30 in Devon was closed for seven-and-a-half hours yesterday following a serious crash. 

    A 60-year-old man was seriously injured in the collision which involved just one car - a black Jaguar XF.

    The road was closed between the Meldon junction and Sourton Cross. 

    Police say the car rolled several times before coming to rest in the main carriageway. The injured man was a passenger in the car, the 60-year-old woman who was driving had minor injuries. Both were taken to Derriford hospital in Plymouth.

    The mayor of Looe has told the inquest into the death of Susan Norman that CORMAC was offered an additional £600 paid by the town council to clear drains in St Martins Road. 

    Susan Norman was crushed to death while asleep in bed when a landslide hit her flat on 22 March 2013.

    Looe Mayor Armand Toms told the jury that the money was offered to Cornwall Council's contractor CORMAC to help alleviate concerns from residents about blocked drains. 

    Mr Toms said the offer was never taken up. Three months before Susan died, Mr Toms said he sent a confidential email to the head of CORMAC saying there were three drains blocked solid in St Martins Road and the highways manager had not done anything about it, the inquest heard. 

    Susan Norman died after a retaining wall and rock slope that stretched up to St Martins Road collapsed. The inquest continues.

    Angry residents opposing a plan for student accommodation up to 12 floors high, say if it goes ahead it could become one of the tallest buildings in Exeter. 

    They don't want the university to build the accommodation for 1,300 students on East Park on the campus, because they say it will destroy a "special green space". 

    There are also concerns about noise pollution, parking, and privacy. Those in favour of the plans say the university brings more jobs and businesses to the city and high-rise buildings are an effective way of providing homes for students.

    Nigel Farage should be appointed as the UK's ambassador to the USA, according to William Legge, the Earl of Dartmouth and a UKIP MEP.

    He says Nigel Farage already has "good ties and a relationship" with Donald Trump and his appointment would help in getting a UK-USA trade agreement for the first time.

    He spends time looking for the Chough, a bird which disappeared from the area in the 1970s due to habitat loss and persecution.

    Now these black corvids with distinctive red beaks and feet are back and their numbers have been increasing since 2001.

    Several witnesses said that they heard a sound like a plane doing "aerobatics" before an aircraft hit the ground near Churchinford in the Blackdown Hills south of Taunton in November last year.

    An Air Accidents Investigation Branch report into the crash said: "The evidence from the autopilot examination system suggested that, as the pilot turned on to the final approach and started to descend, the autopilot may not have been disengaged due to a mental lapse, incorrect button selection or a technical fault." 

    It concluded it was "unable to determine with certainty the reason for the initial rapid climb". 

    It added: "However, it was considered possible that the pilot had initiated the preceding descent by overriding the autopilot."

    The plane was expected to land at Dunkeswell Airfield, in East Devon.

    A dog owner from Newquay who has appealed for people to join him on his beloved pet's last walk says he has been comforted by the global response to his social media post. 

    Mark Woods said he had no idea about the number of responses his Facebook request for people to join him to #walkwithwalnut would attract. 

    But he added his 18-year-old dog now struggles to eat without help or get out of his basket so on his last walk along Porth beach he will have to be carried.

    Cornwall's two-time Olympic gold medalist Helen Glover says she is considering whether to continue in the sport.

    The 30-year-old's partner for pairs gold in 2012 and 2016, Heather Stanning, retired on Wednesday.

    Glover, who married television presenter Steve Backshall in September, is taking time out from the sport.

    "I haven't decided. I was always going to take these few months without thinking about it too much and without trying to make a decision," she told BBC Radio Cornwall. "Heather's decision doesn't affect mine at all, I already knew she was going to retire."
