    Businesses affected by the fire in Exeter say they now feel kicked down again by the way the Christmas Market is being set up.

    They say three large, loud generators to power the market have been put on Cathedral Green - too close to their shops.

    Nick Rhodes, chief executive of Market Place, which is running the market, said it was a challenge to still put it on after the fire, which damaged several historic buildings in the city, and resulted in the demolition of the Royal Clarence Hotel.

    He said he had spoken to the affected businesses and "I understand those concerns". He added: "We have relocated those generators as much as we can and we're quite happy to work alongside these people."

    The two-week knife amnesty is concentrating on so-called "zombie knives", but officers said they were glad of any weapons taken off the streets.

    Police said they were concerned such knives - often inspired by horror films and television programmes, and advertised as collectors' items - could end up in the hands of criminals. 

    It has been illegal to sell the weapons since the summer.

    Fifteen-year-old Arthur Heeler-Frood who went missing more than two months ago has been found safe and well.

    • On Tuesday, he is spotted on a train going from Exeter to Honiton and is found by police at Honiton
    • He is reunited with his family, who described him as "tired, grubby and rather smelly but otherwise none the worse for his experiences"
    • The teenager admits visiting London, Birmingham and Manchester and sleeping rough at night during his time away

    A Cornish medical surgery practice is dealing with a power cut after workmen in a neighbouring property accidentally cut a power cable, staff say.

    Lostwithiel Medical Practice said the incident meant the surgery had electric and no phones, but that a mobile phone number had been set up for patients to use in an emergency.

    It is not known how long it will be before supplies are restored. The number is: 07860-801899.

    The government is being asked in Parliament to help Devon's wine producers. 

    Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish has secured a debate and aims to highlight how ministers can support the industry. 

    He will suggest things likes tax breaks and a new national protected status scheme for the industry post-Brexit.

    The company which produced a little blue cup a Devon man is trying to replace for his autistic son says it has a dedicated team looking for one in its archive of product samples.

    Marc Carter, 42, appealed for help on Twitter, saying his son 13-year-old son, Ben, who has severe autism, would only drink out of the specific two-handle cup which was no longer manufactured by Tommee Tippee. 

    Marc told the BBC his son had had his current blue cup for three years, but it was falling apart and may only last a few more weeks.

    Tommee Tippee said it was touched by Ben's story and staff were doing everything they could to find a cup for Ben.

    Police caught a van driver using a mobile phone as they followed right behind him flashing their blue lights, officers have revealed.

    The officers from Devon and Cornwall pulled over one driver for using a mobile phone on the A39 near Chudleigh.

    As they escorted him out of a layby, a van pulled out in front of them and hit the kerb, the force said.

    "Unfortunately the officers then saw the Mercedes van swerve and straddle the white nearside rumble strip a few times as it started to speed off," they said on Facebook., external

    Truro & Falmouth MP Sarah Newton said she was backing the campaign to encourage more companies across Cornwall to employ workers with disabilities. 

    A poll for PLUSS, an organisation which advises firms about hiring employees with physical or mental health conditions, showed 36% of firms in the county were actively trying to recruit someone with disabilities. 

    PLUSS said it would would like to double that figure.

    A woman from Dorset has died after a two-car road collision in Axminster, police say, external.

    Officers said a Ford Mondeo and a Mitsubishi Space Star collided near the Symonds Lane junction at about 16:00 on Tuesday. They collided after the Mondeo hit a verge, then hit the Mitsubishi, causing it to come off the road and drop about 3m down a bank.

    The Mitsubishi driver, a 73-year-old woman from Lyme Regis, was pronounced dead at hospital. An 82-year-old man and a child also in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The Mondeo driver, an 80-year-old woman also from Lyme Regis, suffered with minor injuries. 

    The road was closed for seven hours for an investigation.

    Four children and two teachers have been treated by paramedics following a chemical spill at a school in Cornwall.  

    Crews from Launceston, Saltash and Callington fire stations and a hazmat officer were sent to St Joseph's School in Launceston yesterday. 

    Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service say, "on arrival the chemical spill was found to be a very small spillage of potassium permanganate".

    Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus removed the chemical from the building, which was removed by a specialist contractor.

    Two bodies have been found at a property in Paignton, police have confirmed.

    Officers said the remains of the 33-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were found in Marldon Road at about 18:00 on Monday.

    Police said they were "currently treating their deaths as unexplained" and enquiries were continuing". Next of kin had been contacted and the coroner had also been informed, officers added.

    The RSPCA should be stripped of power to prosecute animal welfare cases, according to a group of MPs

    The Commons Environment Committee said there was a "conflict of interest" between the charity's roles in prosecuting, carrying out investigations, campaigning and fundraising. 

    The RSPCA insisted it had a good record of prosecuting cases of animal cruelty. But Conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton Neil Parish, who chairs the committee, said he thought the charity should hand cases over to the Crown Prosecution Service. 

    He said: "There have been wrongful prosecutions, and that's why we'd like the CPS to have an overall look at what they are doing."

    A Plymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of committing offences under the Malicious Communications Act, counter-terrorism police say.

    The North East Counter Terror Unit said the 43-year-old man was arrested "on suspicion of further offences" under the act after having been previously arrested in August by South Yorkshire Police in connection with reports of malicious communications.

    A property in Plymouth was being searched as part of the investigation, officers said.
