    Plymouth Argyle chief executive Martyn Starnes says a potential FA Cup tie at Premier League giants Liverpool would greatly boost the club's finances.

    If Argyle win their second-round replay at Newport County, they will earn a first-ever FA Cup trip to Anfield.

    Former Royal Marine Alexander Blackman, jailed for murdering an insurgent in Afghanistan, is having his case heard by the Courts Martial Appeal Court for a second time.

    Blackman - known as Marine A - from Taunton, Somerset, was given a life sentence in 2013 by a court martial over the 2011 incident, which happened when he was serving as a Royal Marine sergeant with Plymouth-based 42 Commando.

    The grand final has been held of Gareth Malone's contest to find Britain's most entertaining, undiscovered amateur choir.

    From the hundreds who applied, and the many groups Gareth auditioned across the country, just three remained in the final - including Exeter University's Semi-Toned.

    The choirs had just 10 days to perfect their performances before they competed one final time in front of a 2,000-strong crowd and a jury of musical experts at London's prestigious Central Hall Westminster. 

    To emerge triumphant, the choirs must impress the jury, whose votes decide who will be crowned Gareth's Best in Britain.

    A hire car in which a band and their manager were killed in Sweden hit a taxi and a raised section of a road bridge over a canal before falling 25m into water, an inquest has heard.

    Four members of Viola Beach and their manager died in Sweden in February when their car plunged into a canal outside Stockholm after a gig. Guitarist River Reeves grew up in Cornwall. 

    The inquest at Warrington Coroner's Court also heard that it was not clear why the car passed stationary vehicles and through barriers ahead of the raised bridge. Swedish Police also said it was "not possible to determine why the car went through the barrier". 

    The hearing continues.

    A petition has been launched to raise concerns "about the culture, leadership, and management" at Falmouth University.

    The petition has been launched on www.change.org, external by a group of people "concerned about the direction Falmouth University is taking and the reasons for the changes".

    The petition follows an open letter by former Falmouth student and acclaimed sculptor, external Tim Shaw which criticised the university's leadership and the closure of some courses.

    Plymouth Albion head coach Dan Parkes has left the National One club after five months in charge.

    Parkes took over at the Brickfields in the summer after long-serving boss Graham Dawe resigned.

    He confirmed to BBC Sport that he had quit his role, but refused to give any further details, saying he was due to meet with club officials on Wednesday.

    Under his leadership Albion have won 10 of their 14 National One matches and are currently third in the league.

    The car was not travelling at excessive speed on a road which was wet but not slippery, and was being driven in a "controlled manner" with "clear deceleration" before going through final barriers, the inquest at Warrington Coroner's Court was told.

    The hearing continues.

    A man accused of raping a drunken student had role-played a similar scenario while volunteering with a student support service, a court has heard.

    Alistair Cooke, 22, who studied at Durham University, denies raping a woman after a house party in June 2015. The third-year geography student, from Perranarworthal, Cornwall, is said to have followed the woman home.

    He found her sleeping on a couch before taking her to bed, Durham Crown Court was told. The trial continues.

    A student who wowed TV audiences with his performances during Gareth Malone's The Choir has said he is "thankful" for having Asperger's syndrome.

    Michael Luya is a member of Semi-Toned, the group of 12 former and current University of Exeter students crowned winners of The Choir: Gareth's Best in Britain on Tuesday night. 

    He said Asperger's - a form of autism -  pushed him to be the best he could be. He added: "I'm really thankful for the fact I've got Asperger's. It's a part of me and I wouldn't be where I am today without it."
