    Former BBC Radio Cornwall reporter Emma Rushton was at the scene in Germany when a lorry smashed through a crowded Christmas market in Berlin.

    Officials said they believed the vehicle was driven through the crowd deliberately and they were treating what happened as a suspected terrorist attack. Twelve people are now known to have been killed. Another 48 people are in hospital - many seriously injured.

    Emma said she was enjoying a glass of mulled wine with a friend at the market, when "all of a sudden, we heard a very, very loud bang". 

    She said: "All of the Christmas lights that were overhanging the market were being torn down and we saw the top of an articulated lorry crashing through the centre of the square. It completely decimated where we’d bought mulled from. It was about 8-10ft in front of us."

    Thousands of fish have washed up on a beach, a fortnight after a similar mass beaching nearby.

    The latest stranding took place on Marazion Beach near Penzance, in front of St Michael's Mount.

    A carpet of sardines and other small fish appeared on the beach on Saturday evening and many remained there on Monday.

    Witness Katrina Slack said: "I've never seen anything like it. It was like the waves were made of fish."

    A search operation had to be launched in the North Petherwin area of Launceston after reports a car had crashed into a field and was on fire. 

    Nobody was found in the vehicle or nearby, prompting the search which involved police officers, the police helicopter and firefighters. Despite the use of a thermal imaging camera, no-one was found.

    Many patients visiting the Accident and Emergency Department in Truro have already tried to get heathcare elsewhere, according to a snapshot survey by Healthwatch Cornwall.

    The Royal Cornwall Hospital struggles to meet targets for treating emergency patients within four hours. 

    Researchers questioned patients over a 12-hour period, and said the assumption that people went straight to hospital before trying other methods appeared to be wrong.
