    One of the Torpoint ferries, which has been out of service for more than a week, has been fixed.

    A three ferry service is running again between Torpoint and Devonport after a missing link on one of the ferries was fixed.

    It has been out of service since 17 December.

    Children from Aleppo have made it to displacement camps and been given aid donations from a Cornish charity.

    Sam Hewett from ShelterBox said: "The fighting in and around Aleppo that has been broadcast in recent weeks is indicative of the intolerable position that people throughout Syria are forced to endure.

    "Due to the support of our generous donors, ShelterBox has been able to support people as they are evacuated from the city with items such as clothing and bedding, to shelter them from the cold winter conditions."

    A 91-year-old woman who died following a crash in Barnstaple on Saturday night has been named as Margaret Pine.

    Emergency services were called after a car crashed into a wall during thick fog on Old Bideford Road near to Birch Lane.

    Three elderly women in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were all taken to North Devon District Hospital.

    Mrs Pine, from Barnstaple, was a passenger in the vehicle and sustained multiple injuries. She died in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

    The other two women, aged 76 and 85 and both from Barnstaple, remain in hospital.

    A lonely donkey has found love at an animal sanctuary in Cornwall just in time for Christmas.

    Thirteen-year-old Lottie was a badly treated beach donkey who arrived at the sanctuary in a "very depressed state" but has now formed a special bond with another rescue donkey, Hamish.

    Plymouth Argyle's third round FA Cup match will be the first time they have taken on Liverpool in more than 50 years.

    The last time the Pilgrims played Liverpool was in the 1961/1962 season when they were playing in what was then Division Two - the Reds ran out winners 2-1 at Anfield and 3-2 at Home Park.

    The two teams have never met before in the FA Cup and in their 10 meetings in Division Two Argyle took the honours in two and Liverpool in five.

    Argyle will travel to Anfield on Sunday 8 January.

    Today marks 40 years since the Sex Pistols played their controversial Anarchy Tour in Plymouth.

    On 22 December they were due to play in Torquay - but it was cancelled - as no venues would host the punk band. 

    So they played a second night in Plymouth - the last of their tour in 1976.

    The new year will see more roadworks on the A38 Glynn Valley, in Cornwall.

    A four-month project to improve safety at Lower Lodge will involve reinforcing the carriageway, building a new retaining wall and barriers and improving drainage. 

    The work is costing £3.6m and will involve some overnight closures and daytime diversions. Julian Strong from Highways England says they will try to keep disruption to a minimum.

    The trial of two men accused of the murder of 30-year-old James Woodhouse will take place in July, a court has heard.

    The body of the fundraiser was found in a wheelie bin in Exeter in November.

    Brett Edwards, 37, of Okehampton Road, St Thomas, has pleaded not guilty to murder, and Thomas Killen, 32, of North Lawn Court, Exeter has not yet entered a plea.

    Both men were remanded in custody following the hearing at Exeter Crown Court.

    The judge was told that a two to three week long trial date has been set for July 10 next year.

    Public toilets in Bodmin were vandalised on the same evening the town's Christmas tree was damaged.

    Vandals forced entry and caused damage to The Priory Park Toilets - specifically the parent and child changing unit, while the Christmas tree's lights were cut in five different places.

    Work is already under way by to rectify the damage this morning.

    The council has encouraged any witnesses to come forward with any information.

    Two men have appeared in court today charged with the murder of 30-year-old James Woodhouse, whose body was found in a wheelie bin in Exeter in November.

    Brett Edwards, 37, of Okehampton Road, St Thomas, Exeter, appeared via a prison video link and pleaded not guilty to murder.

    Thomas Killen, 32, of North Lawn Court, Exeter, is also charged with Mr Woodhouse's murder between November 10 and 21 this year, but has not yet entered a plea.

    A temporary homeless hostel in Exeter has opened - and nine people slept there on the first night.

    Exeter Safe Sleep, on Market Street, will provide food for clients cooked by volunteers.
