How a holiday island bar boss died is a mystery, an inquest has been told.

The medical cause of Josh Clayton's death on the Isles of Scilly was "unascertained" pathologist Dr Russell Delaney told the inquest in Plymouth.

Mr Clayton's body was pulled from the sea off Tresco 10 days after he went missing on 13 September 2015.

Dr Delaney said there were no signs of drowning or an attack on Mr Clayton, 23, from Taunton.

He said blood found on Mr Clayton's T-shirt was "typical of decomposition" of the body.

Tom Leeper, barrister for Mr Clayton's family, asked why the T-shirt had not been retained for further examination and Dr Delaney said it was disposed of on the advice of police investigators.

    The inquest continues.
