The inquest into the death of Josh, 23, from Taunton, was suspended after new evidence from witness Leroy Thomas emerged of an argument between Josh and foreign workers outside a party on Tresco before he disappeared in September 2015.

Josh's body was pulled from the sea 10 days later.

Tom Leeper, barrister for the Clayton family, said "erroneous assumptions" that Mr Clayton had not been involved in an altercation at the party, "have resulted in an inadequate investigation to date" and the family wanted a new investigation by another force.

Police barrister Andrew Waters said everyone who attended the party had been spoken to by officers and nobody had mentioned the altercation.

He said officers had spoken to Mr Thomas twice and the new account would have to be corroborated.
