    Liverpool fans have helped raise more than £1,300, external in memory of Daniel May whose father was told of his death during a game with Plymouth Argyle.

    Distraught dad Kevin May was comforted by police and staff during Sunday's Anfield game after he was told the tragic news on his phone. 

    A banner will be unfurled at the FA Cup replay at Home Park on Wednesday and fans will join a minute's applause on the 25th minute. 

    Organiser Anthony Grice said: "This is to say we are thinking of you."

    Up to 20 vehicles were driven "in an antisocial manner" in the snow around Princetown last night, Tavistock Police has said.

    On Facebook, external, officers said the "majority of the drivers from the vehicle registrations we have been passed, are local keepers in the Tavistock area". 

    "We are looking at information from six reports from different concerned residents and will be following up investigations on the registrations we have been given. 

    "The type of driving that has been reported is not only antisocial but dangerous as well."

    Only two Torpoint Ferries are currently in operation because of "extreme wind and tide", bosses have said.

    Earlier today three ferries were in service.

    Bosses hope to reinstate the third ferry later today.

    A man who was shot in the head during an armed robbery in the Caribbean has lost his sight, his family has said.

    Christopher Tester, 37, from Torquay, intervened when his parents were being threatened with a gun at their cafe in Antigua on Christmas Day.

    Mr Tester's sister Vicky said: "A bullet entered behind his right eye and came out of his left. "So he was extremely lucky it missed his brain, but unfortunately it has affected his eyesight."

    The family are hoping that any brain damage is minimal.

    "He has been on painkillers a lot of the time," said Ms Tester about her boat-worker brother.

    "He's still recovering, but he's ok, he's eating and talking, so he's doing alright."

    She said that he would be at Derriford for at least another two weeks before going to a rehabilitation unit.

    Police in Antigua are investigating the attack but no-one has been arrested.

    Devon is getting nearly £50m to spend on road maintenance including pothole repairs.

    Councils across England have been finding out today their share of the 1.2bn announced in the Autumn Statement.

    The Department for Transport says Devon's £47.9m is the second highest amount of any highways authority in the country.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Teignmouth.

    The red Seat Arosa crashed into the man, 74, on the crossing on Lower Brook Street shortly after 15:00 on Thursday, police said.

    He was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital with a serious head injury, described as life-changing by officers.

    The driver, an 81-year-old woman from Teignmouth, was not injured in the crash.

    Three men charged with the murder of Stephen Bull have appeared at Bodmin Magistrates' Court.

    They have been remanded in custody until 16 January when they will appear via video link at Plymouth Crown Court for a hearing to be set.

    Joshua Michael Buscombe, 24, Daniel Lee Atlass, 22, and Jordon Daniel Bishop, 21 are all from Cosgarne Hall, Truro Road, St Austell.

    The body of 31-year-old Stephen Bull was found in a park off Bridge Road, St Austell, on Wednesday 11 January.

    Police were called to Landrake at 08:15 this morning.

    Officers said the man's next of kin has been informed.

    Police are investigating a burglary and arson attack at an address in Wadebridge.

    Officers said the offenders broke in and started a number of small fires in the property in Chapel Lane behind Molesworth Street sometime between 00:00 and 09:00 on 6 January.

    Emergency services said several thousand pounds worth of damage was caused.

    Three people were checked by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

    Scientists from the School of Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences at the University of Plymouth are developing new strategies to treat and prevent Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.

    The Medical Research Council has funded the project which aims to develop durable vaccines and immune-therapeutics for HCV suitable for all populations.

    Professor Peter Simmonds, leading the project, said: “I think this exciting collaborative project reflects where science really needs to go if we are going to continue to make successful in-roads into the treatment and prevention of infectious disease not just for the few, but for everyone.”

    Matt Kvesic's move to Exeter will improve him as a player, according to Chiefs' forwards coach Rob Hunter.

    The 24-year-old flanker will move to Sandy Park from Gloucester in the summer after signing a three-year deal.

    "We know his quality and by his own admission at the moment he's probably not playing quite as well as he can," Hunter told BBC Sport.

    "By coming here and joining in with us, we can help him kick his game on and I'll think he'll fit in really well."

    Girl band Little Mix and Bryan Adams have announced they are playing in Exeter.

    The band will play outdoors at Powderham Castle on Friday 14th July as one of their 13 ‘Summer Shout Out’ live shows.

    Little Mix will perform their signature hits, including ‘Shout Out to My Ex’, ‘Black Magic’, 'Hair' and 'Wings', alongside tracks from their new album 'Glory Days'.
