A majority of police forces in England and Wales saw record levels of hate crimes in the first full three months following the EU referendum, according to new analysis.
More than 14,000 hate crimes were recorded between July and September. In 10 forces, the number of suspected hate crimes increased by more than 50%, compared to the previous three months, fresh data compiled by the Press Association said.
Devon and Cornwall Police saw a 63% increase.
Police said their own monitoring suggested incidents had levelled out after the summer's spike.
