    A man has been injured in a stabbing in Plymouth, police say.

    Officers said, external they were called to the Stoke Bar and Grill in Stoke Village at about 01:30 on Saturday during an "altercation which later spilled on to the street".

    A 32-year-old man was taken to Derriford Hospital after suffering a "single stab wound to the chest". He is in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

    Police said a possible weapon had been recovered, but no arrests had been made. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and appealing for witnesses.

    Care Quality Commision (CQC) inspectors were at a care home on Monday which is being investigated about a "number of allegations" over the care people receive, the health watchdog has confirmed.

    Bowden Derra Park at Polyphant, near Launceston, offers residential and nursing care for adults with learning disabilities. 

    Cornwall Council has suspended placements at the home. It and NHS Kernow are carrying out the investigations.

    The last CQC report for the home, external was published in March 2016, rating it "good" across the board.

    There are some renewed calls for a bypass in the village of Grampound, on the A390 between St Austell and Truro, after a study found it has excessive levels of nitrogen dioxide. 

    Cornwall Council has asked local residents to come up with ideas to reduce vehicle emissions in the village.

    However, Cornwall councillor Bob Egerton, who lives on the main road, said he thought a bypass was unlikely for several reasons, including a previous proposal "fizzling out", no money being available to build one, and the effects it could have on the village.

    He said: "Some people would like a bypass, but others acknowledge that a village - the shop, the pub - can die with one."

    Cornwall Council has suspended placements at a care home for people with disabilities near Launceston because it is being investigated about a "number of allegations" over the care people receive.

    Bowden Derra Park at Polyphant offers residential and nursing care for adults with learning disabilities. The council and NHS Kernow are carrying out investigations.

    The authority said: "Our priority is to make sure people are safe and cared for, and we have suspended all placements to the home while these allegations are investigated." 

    The council added it was working "to ensure people remain safe and will be meeting with residents and their families very soon to keep them updated with any developments."

    The last Care Quality Commission report for the home, external was published in March 2016, rating it "good" across the board.

    Cornwall Council's chief executive could see her salary increase to £173,417 if new pay packages across the board for council staff are approved today.

    Kate Kennally, who came to Cornwall Council from Barnet Council, is currently on a salary of £171,700.

    The lowest band of pay could increase to £16,302 if the proposals are voted through.

    Police have warned dogs that attack livestock could be shot after a pregnant ewe was killed on Dartmoor.

    PC Phil Johnston said owners are responsible for the crime of livestock being attacked.

    "We see a rise in these incidents during the spring and lambing season, and this is when livestock are at their most vulnerable," he said.

    “Not only could you be breaking the law, a farmer has the right to protect his livestock. If your dog is roaming free and bothering animals on the farmers land, your dog could be shot. 

    "On top of that, you could also be liable for the costs of the damage your dog has caused to the livestock if the farmer wished to take civil action against you."

    The Babbacombe Cliff Railway has been in service since 1926. Today it will receive two new carriages as part of a £100,000 investment.

    The road to the cliff railway will be closed to vehicles for safety reasons and to allow access for the machinery required.

    Fire crews said they were called to Doubletrees in St Blazey at about 04:50.

    Hospital services in nearly two-thirds of England could be cut or scaled back, BBC analysis of local plans shows.

    The proposals have been made by NHS bosses as part of a national programme to transform the health service and save money across 44 different areas.

    The BBC found 28 affect hospital care, from full closures to centralising services such as accident and emergency and stroke care on fewer sites.

    Ministers argue patients will receive better care in the community.

    Do you remember Archie the fire dog? He works for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and was a guest in the Spotlight studio last year.

    Well now Archie has become a cartoon star. He's appearing in a new animation, external with his sidekick, Woody.
