    Police have appealed for witnesses after a shop in Cornwall was ram-raided and more than £900 worth of goods taken.

    Officers said, external the Original Factory Shop in Bodmin was broken into on Saturday at about 02:00 when a vehicle reversed into its front doors. Adidas and Everlast clothing and some vacuum cleaners were stolen.

    As well as the raid itself, police said they wanted to know if anyone had spotted a car with rear end damage which would have been as a result of the raid.

    Cornish footballer Mark Rapsey is celebrating a significant footballing milestone after netting his 2,000th goal at the weekend.

    49-year-old "Rappo" was playing for Wadebridge Veterans when he scored the penalty against Lanreath.

    Later in the game he added to his tally by scoring his 2,001st goal.

    • In Cornwall, on the A30 eastbound near Lanivet, the nearside lane is blocked by a broken-down lorry, just past the Lanivet turn-off
    • In Devon, there's slow traffic on the A39 North Road in Barnstaple at Westaway Plain in the roadworks area
    • In Plymouth, there's slow traffic heading out the city on the A386 Tavistock Road, around Budshead Road, through the roadworks area
    • In Exeter, one lane is blocked eastbound on the A30 at Ide due to a broken-down lorry between the Alphington junction and the M5 
    • Also in Exeter, there are long queues of slow-moving traffic on the A379 Sannerville Way heading for Bridge Road from both directions 
    • In Paignton, the A380 King's Ash Road is closed between Higher Ramshill Lane and Marldon Road due to roadworks. A diversion is in place

  10. Pregnant ewe dies after Valentine's Day dog attackpublished at 08:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Police have issued a warning after a sheep was attacked by dogs that were let off their leads on Dartmoor.

    The pregnant ewe is thought to have been attacked at about midday on Tuesday 14 February.

    PC Phil Johnson said: “We are currently investigating a particularly nasty dog attack on a pregnant ewe this week near Holne, Dartmoor, which led to the animal having to be put down due to the severity of the injuries it suffered.

    “The dogs responsible were being walked off the lead in the area and therefore the owner was not in control."

    Police have appealed for the dog owner to come forward.

    Fire crews from six parts of Devon and Cornwall have been tackling a house fire in north east Cornwall. 

    Crews from Holsworthy, Bude, Launceston, Hartland, Liskeard and Barnstaple have been using breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the blaze in Whitstone after they were called out at about 03:40.

    Health campaigners in South Devon say nurses have been left in tears and people are furious because of planned closures and changes.

    Campaigners claim that following on from the approval of closing four community hospitals last month, McCallum Ward at Torbay Hospital (pictured) had also closed and they expected specialist maternity and baby care to be transferred to Plymouth. 

    Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust's said some beds in the hospital had been shut, but denied the ward closure and service move claims.

    Council tax payers in Cornwall are facing higher bills.

    Cornwall Council is holding its budget meeting later. Half of a 4% rise which is predicted will go to fund social care. 

    The budget also includes proposed cuts of £34m, with 300 more jobs to go by 2020.
