    A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a man in Exeter on Friday morning.

    Police were called to Bridge Court shortly before 01:50 GMT, where they found a 47-year-old man, who later died in hospital.

    He has not yet been identified.

    Police say a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance on the morning of Thursday 16th March in the Colleton Crescent area of the city.

    The Penlee lifeboat has been relaunched from Newlyn this morning, and is making her way back to the 'Lady Alida'.

    The 80m coaster is currently dragging her anchor. The lifeboat plans to standby with a tow rope until a tug arrives.

    This follows a call out to the same ship at 03:20 GMT when the 'Ivan Ellen' lifeboat towed her out into deeper water after an engine failure. The Sennen lifeboat was also involved.

    Penlee's Facebook page says: "it's going to be a long service for the crew.  #SavingLivesAtSea, external ".

    Two Cornish lifeboats have been involved in the rescue of an 80m Netherlands registered ship overnight.

    The Penlee lifeboat 'Ivan Ellen' was called to help the 'Lady Alida' and its seven crew on board at 03:20 GMT. The coaster had suffered a complete engine failure three miles south of Gwennap Head on its way to Ireland.

    They started towing the ship and were joined by the Sennen lifeboat who also attached a tow rope.

    Moving at a speed of a 1.5 knots they managed to tow it into deeper water where it has anchored. A tug is now on its way from Falmouth, while the Penlee lifeboat remains on standby.

    One of Cornwall's best known feline characters has died. 

    Milo, known as the Penzance Tesco cat, is believed to have been hit by a car, his owners said on Facebook, external over the weekend.

    He gained a loyal following of hundreds on social media and was often seen curled up in the Branwell Lane store's foyer - usually on top of some products, or wandering around the car park. 

    His owners said on Saturday night: "He was the most loving cat, and made everyone's day! He's going to be missed so much." 

    They added on Sunday that he had been laid to rest and that staff at the shop had given them a card and flowers.

    Probation officers fear lives are at risk because offenders are not being supervised properly , a BBC investigation has learnt.

    Whistleblowers said job cuts and reduced face-to-face meetings mean some people are not being seen for months.

    The company says "public protection is our top priority and it is our job to help move people away from crime".

    A pregnant cow has been rescued after going over a 40ft cliff and then swimming to an isolated outcrop. 

    A vet and rifleman sedated the cow before fire crews could begin their rescue at The Rumps, near Polzeath, Cornwall.

    Crews winched the rare White Park cow back up to the top of the cliff at about 16:30 on Sunday. 

    "Despite her ordeal she is now back happily grazing in the field," Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.
