  4. Firefighters save wedding dress from house blazepublished at 09:20 British Summer Time 23 May 2017

    Dozens of firefighters from across Cornwall tackled a fire at a large house in Trebetherick near Wadebridge yesterday evening.

    Crews and support vehicles from Wadebridge, Delabole, Padstow, Saltash, Launceston, St Austell, Liskeard, St Dennis, Tolvaddon and Bodmin went to the house on Trenint Hill just after 19:00.

    Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze spread to the roof of the two-storey building and was put out by 21:00.

    A total of 57 fire officers attended the blaze.

    Nearly three weeks after the local elections, we'll find out today who will be in charge of Cornwall Council for the next four years.

    Despite the Conservatives winning the most seats, it's ended up with the Independents and Lib Dems seeking to join forces and form a coalition.

    Today the full council will get to vote on who will be the new leader and deputy - with things still very much up in the air as to who will end up with the top jobs.

    Twenty-two people, including children, have been killed and 59 injured in a suicide attack at Manchester Arena.

    The blast happened at 22:35 BST on Monday at the end of a concert by the US singer Ariana Grande.

    Greater Manchester Police said the lone male attacker, who died in the blast, was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated. Relatives are using social media to hunt for missing loved ones.

    In Devon and Cornwall, Chief Constable, Shaun Sawyer, will this morning chair a meeting of his command team to examine if any further security measures are needed.

    Mr Sawyer says the public should carry on as normal, but remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to the police.

    Extra police patrols will be introduced across Devon and Cornwall today following the attack in Manchester, in which 22 people died in a blast at a concert venue.

    The extra patrols will be staged in areas where large numbers of people gather, such as shopping centres and train stations.

    Commanders stress the move is to reassure the public following the attack. They say there is no evidence of any specific threat to Devon and Cornwall.

    Prime Minister Theresa May will chair an emergency Cobra meeting in London into the suspected terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert.

    Politicians in Devon and Cornwall have been paying tribute to the awful events in Manchester.

    People in Devon and Cornwall have been paying tribute to those killed and injured in the horrific attack in Manchester last night.

    Twenty-two people were killed and dozens injured in a suspected suicide attack at the end of a music concert at the Manchester Arena.

    The blast happened at 22:35 BST at the end of a pop concert by the US singer Ariana Grande.

    Police have set up an emergency telephone number in response to the attack. It is: 0161 856 9400.

    One of the South West's biggest companies is being prosecuted following the death of an employee whose lorry ran over him.

    Lee Jane was killed while working at Derriford hospital in Plymouth in 2015.

    The Health and Safety Executive is bringing four charges against Viridor, a waste management company. The charges relate to systems of working, training, and risk assessments.

    Viridor says it's cooperating fully.
