Police are warning of a number of "distraction thefts" in supermarket car parks around Exeter.
Officers say during the past three weeks seven incidents have been reported and about £1,000 in cash has been stolen from victims.
Car parks targeted include Waitrose, The Range on Water Lane and Southernhay east car park near the church.
PCSO Ben Turner, said: "We believe the man responsible is always dressed smartly, either in a suit or a smart blazer type jacket and possibly has greying hair on his temples and has a strong Eastern European accent."
The man is described as being 40-50 years old, around 5ft 10 tall, of medium build and possibly driving a Vauxhall car.
The sky was clear blue for the Red Arrows display over Falmouth yesterday evening.
There were huge crowds for the event - a key part of Falmouth Week.

A drug dealer and an addict have been found guilty of killing a former soldier in a punishment beating.
Brett Edwards and Thomas Killen attacked victim James Woodhouse at a squalid flat in Exeter where he had been hiding away from a dealer to whom he owed money.
They left Mr Woodhouse unconscious after punching him in the face and then tried to dispose of his body with a wheelie bin when they found him dead at the flat in Exeter six days later.
Mr Woodhouse, 30, had been a soldier, a window salesman, and charity fundraiser before his life was destroyed by his addiction to cocaine.
There are long delays in Exeter today and trains have been cancelled after a vehicle struck a bridge, external.

A man accused of supplying drugs to a teenager who died after taking illegal substances has appeared in court.
Leah Kerry, 15, was found unconscious at Bakers Park in Newton Abbot last month.
Jacob Khanlarian from Newton Abbot, appeared at Exeter Crown Court via videolink from prison.
The 20-year-old was charged with two counts of intent to supply a class A drug and one of intent to supply a class B substance. He didn't enter a plea as the toxicology reports into Leah's death have not been completed.
He was remanded in custody until 31 August.
It is believed Leah suffered an adverse reaction from the substance. She died in Torbay Hospital. Two other girls believed to have taken the same substance were also taken to hospital after the incident, but were released.
A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man at Plymouth railway station.
Jamie Skinner, of Bodmin Road in Plymouth, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court charged with the murder of Wayne Fenton, 49, who was stabbed on the station's concourse.
He was asked only to confirm his name, age and address, and was not asked to enter a plea.

Police are trying to find a man "dressed smartly" in connection with several reports of distraction thefts in Exeter car parks.
Seven thefts have recently been reported to police in Waitrose, The Range and Southernhay east car parks, police said.
They are urging people to be wary of a man in his 40s wearing "either a suit or smart blazer type jacket" who has a strong Eastern European accent.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing on a railway station concourse.
The victim, Wayne Fenton, was found seriously injured at Plymouth station on Tuesday morning.
Paramedics tended to the 49-year-old and he was rushed to Derriford Hospital, but died of his injuries, British Transport Police said.
South Western Ambulance Service said medics treated two men at the scene, one with minor injuries and another with head and shoulder injuries.
Jamie Skinner, of Bodmin Road, Plymouth, was charged on Wednesday evening and is due before magistrates in Plymouth on Thursday morning, police said.

A decorated military surgeon operated on a 12-year-old boy's genitals without the consent of his parents.
Cdr Anthony Lambert OBE admitted carrying out the procedure during an unrelated operation at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, Devon.
Cdr Lambert, who will no longer perform non-emergency operations on children, has apologised along with Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
But the boy's "angry" mother has branded the surgeon "not trustworthy".
Dr Phil Hughes, medical director for Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, sent a letter to the family which said the operation "should not have happened without consent".
A luxury hotel in Exeter had to be evacuated last night after the fire alarm was triggered by someone vaping.
Guests had to leave the Mercure Rougemont at about 23:30 - it's not known how many were evacuated.
