    Devonport-based HMS Ocean arrived in Gibraltar, en-route to the Caribbean to provide humanitarian aid to people affected by Hurricane Irma.

    A Royal Navy plane that crash-landed at an air-day in Cornwall is due to return to its Yeovilton base in Somerset this week after being rebuilt.

    Experts have spent three years re-assembling the Sea Fury, which came down at the RNAS Culdrose Air Day in 2014.

    The Royal Navy plane crashed onto the runway at the show, but the pilot, Lieutenant Commander Chris Gotke, walked away uninjured.

    The Sea Fury will go on display at Yeovilton later this month after returning on Friday.

    Surfers against Sewage is in Downing Street today to deliver a 250,000-signature petition to the government about environmental pollution.

    The Cornwall-based pressure group said discarded plastic was a blight on beaches.

    The petition calls for a new bottle deposit scheme, with glass and plastic bottles, as well as aluminium cans, having a surcharge that can be repaid when recycled.

    Removing stones from a ancient monument site in Cornwall to build so-called "fairy stacks" could see perpetrators prosecuted.

    An increasing number of the stone stacks on Stowe's Pound, on Bodmin Moor, has upset archaeologists, who describe it as vandalism.

    The early Neolithic site, which dates back about 6,000 years, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and protected by law.

    Historic England said removing objects without permission was an offence and people doing so could be prosecuted and even face a custodial sentence.

    A Devon council has voted against a no confidence motion proposed against Police Commissioner Alison Hernandez.

    The motion was the third she has faced in as many months, this time by Devon County Council's cabinet.

    Cabinet members voted unanimously against it.

    The police chief also survived the first two motions - by Plymouth City Council and the Police and Crime Panel - following comments she made suggesting gun owners might be able to act as armed civilians in a terror attack.

    Today's motion was brought by Lib Dem councillor, Alistair Dewhirst, who said he was unhappy about cuts to neighbourhood policing.

    Ms Hernandez said the latest vote was politically motivated.

    The services are shared by the three authorities to save money and improve efficiency.

    As well as saying how people could contact it, Exeter City Council warned that the problem meant it could not process payments at the moment.

    A 24-year-old man been killed in a head-on collision in Knowlestone, near South Molton, police say, external.

    Emergency services were called to the crash involving a Honda motorcycle and a Volvo HGV near Moortown Barton picnic area just before 07:00 yesterday.

    The motorcyclist, who was local, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Devon and Cornwall Police have asked anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.

    East Devon District Council's leader is facing a vote of no confidence today for not doing more to stop the closure of community hospital beds.

    Conservative Paul Diviani, who represents district councils on Devon County's Health Scrutiny Committee, said he did nothing wrong in voting not to refer the closure of 71 beds to the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

    The confidence motion is being brought by Independent Councillor Ben Ingham, who said Mr Diviani had previously said he would support the vote to refer the decision.

    "Having told us he would support our wishes ... then he actually voted against what we had asked him to do," Cllr Ingham said.
