    Police are appealing for witnesses after a two-car crash on the A30 left three people injured.

    Emergency services were called to the scene, between Boxheater and Carland Cross, at 21:50 on Friday.

    Police said a silver Honda and a dark coloured Seat were involved in the crash.

    The driver of the Honda, A 28-year-old man from St Columb Major, has life-threatening injuries and is currently in intensive care at Derriford Hospital.

    The driver of the Seat, a 42-year-old man from Penzance, has minor injuries. His front-seat passenger, a 36-year-old woman also from Penzance, has a suspected broken arm. Both were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

    A man was taken to hospital with broken bones and hypothermia after falling down a disused mineshaft in Cornwall.

    A specialist mine rescue team and 50 emergency services staff worked for six hours to pull the man out.

    Police said the entrance of the mineshaft "gave way and he fell through". They said the 51-year-old man is from the Vale of Glamorgan and was among a walking group holidaying in the area.

    The future of a multimillion-pound redevelopment, to include Exeter bus station, is in doubt after the developers announced they were pulling out.

    The Crown Estate and TH Real Estate said they were no longer able to "progress the proposed extension to the Princesshay shopping centre" due to current market conditions.

    The controversial proposals, which took more than two years to finally be approved, had included a redevelopment of the bus and coach station site into new restaurants, shops and a cinema.

    In a statement, the Crown Estate said: "Unfortunately in the current market, many retailers and restaurateurs are now more cautious about making new commitments, particularly in proposed developments, which take time to build and therefore require a commitment several years ahead."

    Brixham's Arts & Theatre Society has given notice to terminate its lease at the town's theatre from April next year.

    The announcement was made by Brixham Town Council which has invited community groups to help take over the performance space.

    Anyone interested is asked to write to the Town Clerk by the end of October with proposals on how they plan to run a sustainable theatre.

    A dress with a 72ft (22m) train has been made from discarded body boards to highlight the waste they create.

    Keep Britain Tidy collected nearly 600 of the "cheap polystyrene boards" on three beaches in Devon and Cornwall.

    The "Wave of Waste" was made using fabric from 100 of the boards.

    Neil Hembrow from the environmental charity said an estimated 14,000 boards are discarded every summer which has a "devastating" impact for wildlife.

    Two people have died in a crash involving three cars on the A39 near Camelford.

    A 30 year old man from Helstone died in the collision on Saturday and a 70 year old woman from Kent, who was a passenger in another car, was the second victim.

    Her husband has life threatening injuries.

    Two other people - a 15 year old from Port Isaac and a 40 year old man from Delabole were airlifted to hospital where they are said to be in a stable condition.

    Devon and Cornwall Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

    A Portuguese Man O' War - a jellyfish-like sea creature that can be deadly to humans - has been seen floating in a Devon river.

    A fisherman spotted the creature in the River Dart near Dartmouth jetty yesterday morning.

    And that sighting has prompted reports of more around the Devon coast.

    UK Border Agency staff are due to interview two men found hiding in a ferry off the Devon coast.

    The stowaways from Afghanistan were discovered in a fridge on the Cherbourg to Dublin ferry about 20 miles south of Start Point last night.

    They were airflifted to Derriford Hospital for medical checks.

    They've since been discharged and are being held by the Border Agency.

    The mother of a teenager missing for nearly three months says she's "humbled" by the support of local people who continue to help search for her son.

    Finn Layland Stratfield, whose 18th birthday was at the weekend, was last seen on cliffs near his home in Tintagel in July, but despite extensive searches, he hasn't been found.

    Finn's mother, Bek Stratfield, said the family is living "day by day and hour by hour", but the fact that people are still out every day looking for him every day is a testament to how much her son is loved.

    The teenager's 12-year-old brother Noah said: "I do miss him and I really love him - I just hope he comes back."

    A walker who fell into a disused mineshaft in Cornwall was airlifted to hospital after a six-hour operation involving more than 50 rescuers.

    The man from Wales, who's in his 50s, was on the coast path at Cot Valley near St Just, when it's believed he walked into an adit - a horizontal mine entrance - before falling about 50ft (15m).

    More than 50 rescuers were involved in a six-hour operation to bring a seriously injured man to the surface after he fell down a disused mine shaft in Cornwall yesterday.

    The man from Wales, who is in his 50s, is believed to have walked into an adit (a horizontal entrance to a mine) before falling about 50ft (15m) into the shaft at Cot Valley near St Just.

    The man, who was suffering from hypothermia and broken bones, including a suspected broken hip, was airlifted to hospital by helicopter.

    The rescue also involved ambulance personnel, coastguard teams, fire crews and police.

    Family and friends of a teenager who disappeared almost three months ago in Cornwall, have widened the search for him by putting posters in major cities and airports.

    Finn Layland Stratfield, who turned 18 at the weekend, was last seen on cliffs near his home, close to Tintagel, in July.

    His mother, Bek Stratfield, says although local people are still looking for him in coastline searches, the hunt has also gone nationwide.

    "We've done train stations, bus stations, airports and all the major cities," she said.
