    Health managers in Cornwall say no firm decision has been made about the future of the mothballed Bodmin Treatment Centre, but that but plans are afoot looking at reshaping Cornwall's health and care systems.

    The treatment centre opened for elective surgical procedures in 2006 to help ease pressure on Cornish hospitals.

    More than 5,000 patients a year were treated at the facility, but it closed in March after Ramsay Healthcare said its contract was ending after it couldn't come to an agreement with NHS Kernow.

    The clinical commissioning group said it was looking at infrastructure - including the treatment centre - as part of a wide-reaching review.

    A fisherman missing since a boat capsized off the Devon coast last night is believed to be the father of one of the two rescued crew.

    The alarm was raised by family members when the 10m (33ft) multi-purpose boat Solstice failed to return to its home port of Plymouth after a day fishing for cuttlefish.

    A massive air and sea search was launched involving coastguard helicopters, Royal Navy ships, RNLI lifeboats and the Border Force.

    Skipper Nick Jones and crewman Chris Wonnacott were found clinging to the upturned hull of Solstice at about 01:00 and taken ashore, but the search for the skipper's father, Tony Jones, was later suspended.

    The Marine Accident Investigation Branch is working with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and salvage experts on recovering the vessel.

    A policeman from Devon has been sent on a sex offenders course after being caught by US law enforcement agents who posed as a 13-year-old girl.

    PC Jonathan Fulcher sent pictures of himself in uniform and images of his private parts to the Department of Homeland Security agents who caught him in an internet chat room.

    Fulcher, 34, of High Road, Crediton, admitted three counts of making a total of 290 indecent images of children, one of possession ammunition without a certificate, and one of possession of a noxious pava spray.

    He was jailed for eight months, suspended for two years, and ordered to attend a sex offenders' treatment programme and undertake 20 days rehabilitation activities.

    He was also ordered to sign on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.

    The court heard he had been sacked from the Devon and Cornwall force.

    It is said that patience is a virtue, and he is one player who knows plenty about being patient after finally making his first-team debut for Argyle against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday - eight years, one month and 19 days after first joining the club.

    The 29-year-old seized his opportunity with a series of fine saves.

    Ultimately, though, he was beaten from the penalty spot as his side suffered a 1-0 defeat and slipped to the bottom of the League One table.

    A road in Dartmouth has reopened after police shut it to investigate a suspected hit-and-run near Britannia Royal Naval College which resulted in a man's death.

    Police said they were called to College Way just before 00:30 BST after a 27-year-old was found lying on the road.

    A vehicle involved had failed to stop and damaged vehicle parts were found near the body, officers said.

    The incident happened within 200m of the college's entrance.

    The road was closed between Townstal Road and Ridge Hill.

    A fishing boat which capsized off the Devon coast, triggering a rescue operation for two fishermen and a search for a third, has been named locally as the Solstice.

    The men had been fishing off the Eddystone Lighthouse yesterday evening but had failed to dock at the agreed time, triggering the search.

    A helicopter found the boat at about 01:00 BST on Wednesday and two people were rescued from the upturned hull by the RNLI.

    Coastguards said a search for the missing third man had been suspended "pending further information".

    The Marine Accident Investigation Branch is working with counter pollution officers and salvagers to recover the Plymouth-registered vessel.

    The Royal Navy's HMS Argyll is also understood to be alongside the stricken vessel.

    One man is missing and two have been rescued after a fishing boat capsized off the Devon coast.

    An "intensive" search was launched after the vessel was discovered four miles south of Plymouth early on Wednesday, coastguards said.

    A helicopter found the boat at about 01:00 and two people were rescued from the upturned hull by the RNLI. A third is still missing.

    The RNLI said its lifeboats from Plymouth, Looe and Salcombe were tasked to help in the multi-agency search for the overdue fishing vessel.

    It said: "The volunteer lifeboat crews rescued two casualties from the upturned hull and transferred them to Plymouth’s all-weather lifeboat before they were put into the care of South Western Ambulance Service."

    The search for the missing fisherman has been stood down "pending further information", coastguards said.

    A murder investigation has been launched, external following a man's death after he was hit by a vehicle in Dartmouth, police say.

    The man was found lying on the A379 at College Way, near the entrance to Britannia Royal Naval College, at about 00:40. Devon and Cornwall Police said damaged vehicle parts were found near the victim's body but the driver failed to stop.

    Motor Police Constable Gary Williamson, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "The pedestrian, a 27-year-old man, received injuries that proved to be fatal. His next of kin have been informed.

    "At this time we are treating this as a murder enquiry until it is established otherwise."

    Road closures have been in place whilst officers carried out a forensic examination.

    A police drone is involved in the search for the vehicle involved in a fatal crash in Dartmouth in the early hours, officers say.

    A 27-year-old man was found lying on the A379 at College Way, near the entrance to Britannia Royal Naval College, at about 00:40, but his injuries were fatal. His next of kin have been informed.

    Devon and Cornwall Police said damaged vehicle parts were found near the victim's body, but the driver failed to stop.

    Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police.
