"There's lots of work going on behind the scenes to get international clearance and to get him back from Marseille and on a flight and hopefully in contention for Tuesday."

The Gulls go into tomorrow's game at Sutton United having failed to score in seven of the 11 games that Owers has been in charge.

Vandals have scaled Camborne's notorious Christmas tree just days after it was put up.

This year, the local business improvement district (BID) chose a new conical tree (pictured) in order to prevent people damaging it.

It brought ridicule from some, who said it looked more like an upside down ice-cream cone. This criticism got coverage in national newspapers, external.

The BID defended its decision, adding it looks pretty when lit up by its inbuilt lights, saying: "The ugly duckling it seems has changed into a swan – when the lights are on at least."

However, the tree was damaged on Sunday night.

BID Manger Mel Martin said police had been notified.

She said: "Luckily, it's not too seriously damaged, but it is damaged. And, obviously with lights, there are electrics involved."

    BBC Sport

Danny Rowe ascended to the top of the National League scoring charts with a brace that helped AFC Fylde beat Torquay at Mill Farm at the weekend.

The Coasters struggled to impose their home advantage early on, but hit the front in the latter stages of the first half when a Henry Jones corner was not properly cleared and Rowe found a deft turn and inch-perfect finish.

Torquay manager Gary Owers changed his back three to a four to help improve his side's progress. It nearly paid off when Luke Young's free-kick clipped off debutant Andy Mangan and onto the post.

The relief was shot-lived, however, as Rowe smashed in a second to put the match beyond the Gulls.

Mrs Saunders said: "It would be an awful shame to throw them away or to take them to the tip.

"We've been here for 60 years and we've kept them for spares for years, but now we'll never use them again.

"I'm not bothered about the price - I'd like them to go to a museum or something like that so they can be preserved."

    City of Lights

Truro's City of Lights festival this week has been postponed because of weather concerns, organisers say.

Organisers said on Facebook, external they were moving the event from this Wednesday until January because forecast "high winds and heavy rain mean that the large lanterns cannot be paraded and there would be an increased risk to the small lanterns".

They added: "This kind of weather also presents a risk to the general public attending and we are keen to avoid any weather-related incidents."

The city's Christmas Lights are now due to be turned on on 29 November at the start of the Reindeer Parade.

"If anyone knows Cody Cooke he's not malicious in any way, shape or form," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall.

    BBC Sport

Cornish Pirates coach Gavin Cattle says his side must improve after a 32-26 loss at London Scottish.

"I'm just really disappointed. That quarter of an hour after half time where our discipline cost us field position and then we just weren't at the races in that our physicality's not what it has been," Cattle told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Our set piece is nowhere near acceptable to be honest, getting driven over as easy as it looked for Scottish, that's something we can rectify pretty quickly."

The loss sees the Pirates drop to eighth place in the Championship after nine rounds of matches.
