  16. Coastpath is 'dangerous and still moving'published at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Johnny O'Shea
    BBC News Online

Part of a footpath that collapsed this morning between Porthleven and Loe Bar is "quite dramatic, dangerous and still moving" according to the National Trust.

The path has been closed, although Mike Hardy, the National Trust's lead ranger at the Penrose Estate said he doesn't expect anymore of the path to fall away at that spot.

"You can't fix things like this. You can't patch it.

"It's about adaptation and looking at the future, realising the coast is very dynamic and by always knowing we are going to need to migrate back.

"We are working with natural processes rather than trying to patch it up and repair it, because you just can't do it."

A new temporary diversion has been put in place using an existing bridleway, and engineers from Cormac have been to the site.
