Huge cracks appeared in the rock face and land at Mullion Cove, on the Lizard peninsula last week.
Councillors in Plymouth will debate a motion later calling on the city council to start phasing out single use plastics.
The Labour group wants things like takeaway coffee cups, straws and cutlery to be banned from all council buildings and council-run events by the summer of 2020.
The motion is also calling for the establishment of a task force this year involving local businesses, called the Plastic Free Plymouth Task Force, to get the whole city cutting back on single use plastics.

Wet weather continued to disrupt local sport in Cornwall at the weekend.
In football, Truro City's home match against Havant and Waterlooville was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Other sports teams did manage to play elsewhere, but it was not always good news.
In rugby, there was no joy for Redruth as the Reds lost at Bury St Edmunds by 27-14.
But there was a winning return for coach Liam Chapple at Camborne: the Cherry and Whites beat Weston-super-Mare 29-7.
A coffee morning at Carnkie village hall near Wendron this weekend raised £2,000 to help those affected by the blast.
One pensioner is still in hospital with severe burns and two families may have to wait a year before returning home.
Penny Eddy, whose bungalow was hit by flying roof tiles, says lots of people have rallied round to help.
"It's not a big village," she said. "But everybody has come and they've either come up to you, or rang, to offer help. And it's absolutely fantastic, it really is."

A cyclist has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a crash with a car near Camborne.
Police said a 44-year-old local man was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after the crash on an unclassified road between Tehidy and Halgoss on Friday evening.
The road was closed for four hours for an investigation and police have appealed for information.
The government says superfast broadband is now available to 95% of UK homes and businesses.
It said it meant it had met a commitment it made to hit the target by the end of 2017.
However, campaigners in Cornwall said accessibility in some rural areas still remained much lower.
The South West has among the slowest internet connection speeds in the country.
Businesses warned there could be "digital divide" for those who remained unconnected.

The 8.7 mile (13km) dual carriageway will see the replacement of the present Chiverton Cross with a new, two-level motorway-style roundabout.
There will be a new two-level partial junction at Chybucca with west-facing slip roads connecting to the new dual carriageway.
There will be the replacement of the existing roundabout at Carland Cross with a two-level motorway-style junction.
There will be new bridges and access across the old and new A30.
The existing A30 will be retained and new roads will be built to connect them together.
There will also be 21 crossings for animals, woodland planting, hedgerows and a "green" bridge.

A piece of Lego believed to have been lost off the Cornish coast 21 years ago has been found on a beach in Cumbria.
The plastic plant found at St Bees is thought to have been one of 4.8m pieces of Lego lost overboard from the Tokio Express in 1997.
The freighter was hit by a big wave about 20 miles off Land's End and 62 containers fell overboard.
The Colourful Coast Partnership, which found the piece, said it highlights the problem of plastic marine pollution.
