    Cornwall's out-of-hours GP service has been recorded as being one of the best performing in the south of England.

    The new integrated 111 and out-of-hours service was launched by Kernow Health in November and has been in the top four in the south since.

    Latest figures show that in Cornwall 94.5% of calls to the service were answered within 60 seconds.

    This was the second best behind the Isle of Wight with 95.8%.

    In Devon, it was just 70.4%.

    Approaching the Tamar Bridge, traffic is slow-moving from both the Devon and Cornwall sides due to the power cut affecting toll booths.

    We've had reports that this has meant drivers being unable to pay tolls.

    Firefighters are on the scene of a fire at a farm in Whimple, Devon.

    Crews from Ottery St Mary and Middlemoor were called at about 06:05 to reports of an agricultural outbuilding on fire on Rull Lane.

    Western Power also attended to isolate the electric supply to the building.

    Cornwall has the fourth highest percentage of home-schooled children in the UK, figures reveal.

    A total of there are 1,024 children - 1.2% of students - are being educated at home instead of school.

    A BBC investigation shows the national number has risen by about 40% over three years, with some 48,000 children are being taught at home across the UK.

    Police searching for a missing woman have confirmed they have found a body.

    Hollie Kerrell, 28 - who had lived in Kingsbridge, Devon, and had recently moved to Wales - was last seen at her home in Knighton, Powys, on Sunday.

    Dyfed-Powys Police, external officers are questioning a 35-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with Ms Kerrell's death.

    Detectives said a formal identification of the body had not yet been carried out, but the coroner had been informed.

    A Devon MP is calling for immediate action to help farmers struggling to recruit migrant workers.

    Tiverton and Honiton's Neil Parish wants the government to bring in a pilot seasonal worker scheme so people from outside the EU could get work permits.

    In Cornwall alone, up to 22,000 seasonal workers are needed at the peak of the season, and farmers are worried about the future.

    Young people living on the Rame Peninsula are calling for more affordable local housing and will hold a parade in Cawsand tonight to highlight the problem.

    Last year, holiday homes in Kingsand and Cawsand reached 50% of the total housing stock.

    The Peninsula Trust wants to buy the derelict Old Ship Inn at Cawsand, external (pictured), which burnt down in 2013, so it can be developed into flats for locals.

    The Falmouth lifeboat was called out last night to a yachtsman who was stuck off the south coast.

    He rang the coastguard at about 22:30 as he approached the Cornish coast from France, when the wind dropped and he couldn't start his engine because of a gearbox problem.

    The yacht was towed into Falmouth.

    Parents are fighting to save a Devon school from closure despite a damning Ofsted report finding it inadequate in all areas.

    Inspectors visited Plymouth Studio School, external in March and found students regularly missing lessons, poor leadership and poor exam results.

    The school, which has 155 pupils and was intending to have capacity for up to 300, announced earlier this week it was close less than three years after it opened.

    Its head teacher said he was "extremely sorry" to be announcing the news.

    It cost £4.2m to build.

    A bar in Paignton that had its licence suspended has been told it can reopen.

    Police asked Torbay Council to shut it down after a man claimed he had been assaulted by door staff at Winstons in Station Square on 10 March.

    CCTV footage was shown of the man being punched and falling into the road twice, where he narrowly avoided being run over by a coach.

    The council's licensing committee has now reinstated the licence after hearing there would be a fresh start at the pub, with a change of culture, different clientele and the revival of a former name.

    Solicitor James Cross, representing owner Hossam Kasbar, said: "We are going back to the future by using the name Pickwick, Pickwick was the name of the premises, and now it's going back to Pickwick."

    Conditions imposed by the licensing committee, and agreed to by police and the pub's owner, include:

    • Not allowing customers to enter or reenter after midnight
    • Not selling drinks after 01:00
    • Closing the pub's doors by 01:30
    • A new company employing doormen has also been appointed

    Backers of the Stadium for Cornwall say they have been given a "clear understanding" of how the government could help the project get under way.

    A team from the stadium joined together with a group of Cornish MPs to meet with the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Matt Hancock and Sports Minister Tracey Crouch.

    Cornwall Council has agreed to provide £3m towards the £14.3m project to build the stadium on the outskirts of Truro.

    It would provide a permanent home for the Cornish Pirates and Truro City Football Club as well as providing training and business facilities for Truro and Penwith College.

    However, the council's funding is dependent on the government providing another £3m towards the project.

    Eden Bar in Newquay has had its licence revoked by Cornwall Council, external.

    The authority was asked to look at the premises by Devon and Cornwall Police.

    Officers said there were "regular breaches" of its licence, external, which included drunk people being served alcohol, doors being left open with loud music playing, under-age drinkers entering the bar and disorder in local streets after closing time.

    Cornwall Council says it will explain why it revoked Eden Bar's licence soon.

    The club will stay open while owner Memet Aldemir appeals against the decision.
