    Police are concerned for the welfare of a man in his 50s who is missing from the Newquay area.

    Neil Hart left the accommodation he was in with a female and his white dog.

    He is described as a white male, about 5ft 7in (170cm) tall, with dark greasy hair and stubble.

    Police say he smokes roll up cigarettes, is "quite shy in demeanor" and "rarely makes eye contact when talking to others".

    Anyone with information is being asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

    An arsonist who lit four fires at a Devon seaside hotel while guests slept upstairs has been jailed.

    Ryan Dodd, 24, of Torquay Road in Paignton, broke into a room on the ground floor of the Bay Sands Hotel with friend Richard Tippett, 28, of no fixed address, and lit the fires after ransacking the rooms.

    Exeter Crown Court head how the two men both worked at a nearby hotel and had been drinking after finishing their shifts.

    At least four guests were asleep upstairs, but were woken by smoke alarms and escaped unhurt.

    The fire caused £40,000 worth of damage. Dodd admitted burglary and arson with intent to endanger life/recklessness and was jailed for four years and eight months.

    Tippett was jailed for eight months, suspended for a year, and ordered to do 150 hours unpaid community work after admitting burglary.

    Judge David Evans told Dodd he was "well aware you were creating a very real risk to their lives". "You increased the risk by deliberately setting not one but at least four fires."

    Visitors will have the chance to climb aboard a replica of a Spanish galleon this weekend at Brixham Pirate Festival, external.

    It's the first time a ship like this has sailed into the town since 1588.

    A man has admitted to taking eggs from - and disturbing - the nests of rare birds.

    Footage and photos found on the computer of Jason North, from Haddington Road, Plymouth were a key part of the prosecutions case.

    The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to eight charges of intentional or reckless disturbance of a Schedule 1 species, external including Osprey, Peregrine Falcon and Little Ringed Plover and one charge of taking the eggs of an Osprey in Spring and Summer of 2016. Sentencing is expected soon.

    The latest section of a cycle route that eventually aims to link Exmouth with Newton Abbot has opened.

    The pedestrian and cycle route between Newton Abbot Racecourse and the Passage House Inn opened at the weekend following the completion of work.

    The route connects to part of the Teign Estuary Trail which links Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton, and also adds to other completed sections of the trail from Dawlish Warren into Dawlish.

    Devon County Council's strategic vision is to eventually link the recently completed Exe Estuary Trail that runs from Exmouth to Dawlish Warren, to Dawlish and Teignmouth and on to Bishopsteignton, Kingsteignton and Newton Abbot.

    A replica of a Spanish galleon has sailed into Brixham today for the first time since 1588.

    Ahead of the 10th anniversary of the Brixham Pirate Festival, external this weekend, it was escorted into the dock by some heritage boats, with a few pirates on board.

    It's the first time this particular vessel has moored in British water although she has been all around the world.

    The 164ft (50m) Spanish Galleon, which weighs 496 tonnes, will be open for tours across the weekend.

    Devon and Cornwall Police are warning people, external of potential travel disruption on the M5 in Exeter - two weeks' in advance.

    On 19 May, the new Ikea store will have been open for just over a week. the Devon County Show will be in its final day and Exeter Chiefs will be playing their Aviva Premiership Rugby semi-final at Sandy Park.

    Police say the M5 is likely to be "pretty congested" and is warning people to "plan ahead".

    The Duchy of Cornwall will get a £8.7m grant from Cornwall Council along with a loan of £7.1m to fund a road to its Nansledan housing development in Newquay., external

    It had been claimed earlier this week that all the money from the council would be a loan, but it has since been revealed the £8.7m will be handed over as a grant.

    The Duchy of Cornwall has apologised for claiming that it would be repaying the £8.7m and said it was not a deliberate attempt to mislead.

    The entire cost of the road will be £24.4m, with the remainder of the money coming from Section 106 agreements with the developers, which were made in relation to planning permission for the development.
