    A group of six men were forced to move a vehicle that was parked on a double yellow line after it got in the way of a bus, external.

    The bus was seemingly unable to pass a parked car causing a back-up of traffic behind it on the Barbican in Plymouth.

    Staff working at dairy group Arla's factory in North Tawton in Devon will not be affected by the company's proposals to cut 154 jobs across the UK.

    The Danish firm announced today there will be cuts following a wide review of its cheese business.

    Although the company is planning to close Denbighshire creamery in Wales, it says the production of Cheddar cheese will move to the Devon factory and another in Lockerbie.

    Police want information about two burglaries which happened last Wednesday, external on Peak Hill in Sidmouth.

    The first happened at about 09:45 when a builder had the keys to his van stolen and a Makita drill taken by two white men, both in their early 20s.

    They both drove away in a silver Peugeot estate with a 2004 registration plate.

    A few hours later at about 12:45, the occupant of an address on Summerfield, Sidmouth, returned home to find her house had been broken into.

    She noticed that an iPad had been stolen and a couple of items of jewellery including a gold wedding ring and pair of diamond stud earrings.

    A silver Peugeot estate was also seen leaving the area along with a white man in his early 20s.

    Local businesses in Porthtowan are again talking about the problem of parking in the town.

    The popular beach has a Cornwall Council-owned car park but visitors are often unable to pay by phone because there's variable mobile phone coverage.

    The machine is often broken and, indeed, this weekend was no exception, it's been reported.

    Last year we reported that an attendant was turning people away rather than letting them park for free.

    Jemma Rowe, who owns a shop opposite the car park, said: "It's a real issue and they need to sort it out."

    The council said that drivers could pay for parking using their mobile phone "in the vast majority of our car parks".

    It added: "However, in areas where we are unable to offer this service due to limited phone reception, then we appreciate that there is no alternative way to pay when a machine is out of action.

    "Because of this, no penalty charge notices were issued within Porthtowan car park during the time the machine could not accept payment."

    Police say they are concerned for the welfare of a man from Salcombe who has gone missing.

    Officers said, external that 40-year-old Robert Johnson, also known as Rab, had not been seen or heard from since Thursday 24 May.

    He is described as white, of slim build, and with slightly greying short cut mousy hair.

    He also normally wears baggy jeans and a hoodie.

    Plymouth Raiders coach Gavin Love has announced his resignation.

    The former player said in a statement on the club's website, external that he's been offered an opportunity "that I simply could not refuse, one that at this moment in time is best for my family and I".

    “I wish to thank all the incredible Plymouth fans and sponsors who throughout this past season were simply superb.”

    The Raiders directors added they were "disappointed" but understand and support Love's reasons.

    The club says it hopes to have a replacement by the end of June.

    The Boyhood of Raleigh

    A famous painting called The Boyhood of Raleigh by Victorian painter John Everett Millais is leaving the Tate Gallery for the first time and coming to Devon.

    It is in honour of the 400th anniversary of the execution of Sir Walter Raleigh, who was born in East Budleigh.

    The painting is going on show from today at the Fairlynch Museum, external in Budleigh Salterton.

    Police want the public’s help to trace a man who is wanted for recall to prison, external.

    Anthony Doyle, who was originally convicted of possession of an offensive weapon and burglary, has failed to comply with licence conditions following his release from prison.

    The 32-year-old has connections to the Torquay area and the north-west of England.

    Some Exeter City fans want manager Paul Tisdale to leave the club after his side lost a second successive League Two play-off final at Wembley on Monday.

    The Grecians lost 3-1 to Coventry City with Tisdale saying he was "terribly disappointed" by the performance.

    He says a decision on whether he will stay at the club is yet to be made.

    But some fans have already made up their minds on what they think should happen next...

    The boss of the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) and other senior managers have agreed to take over the running of North Devon Healthcare Trust (NDHT) for two years.

    The NHS trusts said the move was to "provide leadership and management support" to maintain clinical services as north Devon faced "challenges ... in continuing to provide acute services" .

    It would also "ensure that the health needs of the population of northern Devon continue to be met," they added.

    RD&E Chief Executive Suzanne Tracey would also become "the accountable officer of both organisations", it said.

    The move still has to be approved by health boards. If approved, the trusts said a dedicated senior management team "would based at each acute hospital site in Barnstaple and Exeter".

    Parts of Newlyn Harbour may be closed to the public after antisocial behaviour over the bank holiday weekend, the harbour master says.

    Rob Parsons said his staff were kept busy over the holiday when people used the area to race cars, which was also caught on CCTV cameras.

    He said: "When vessels are away, people seems to think our quays are a drag strip, and people have been doing doughnuts in cars.

    "It's the many who will miss out because of the few, but we need to protect everyone."

    Mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse is planning to close 92 of its more than 700 standalone stores nationwide this year.

    The move comes after Dixons Carphone saw its shares dive by nearly 20% after issuing a profits warning.

    The company blamed "challenges" in the market for mobile phones and mobile services, including a declining market for long-term mobile contracts and people not renewing their handsets as frequently.

    It had also seen weaker demand for computers.

    The chain has branches throughout Devon and Cornwall (including its Truro branch, pictured here).

    A man who was an original staff member at NatWest Bank in Bodmin has been sharing his memories ahead of the branch's closure., external

    Roger Luke joined the company in 1973 and worked there for 20 years as the first administration manager before retiring in 1993.

    Staff today have invited Roger back to the branch to be the last person to leave the building to mark the event.

    He's been sharing stories from his time there and this one proved particularly memorable for him...

    No lessons need to be learned after a police drone had a "near-miss" with a fighter jet travelling at 520mph, officers say.

    A report from the UK Airprox Board , externalsaid the incident saw an officer bring a drone down quickly above Throwleigh in Devon in January after its operator "honestly believed" the two aircraft collided in mid-air.

    The drone was flying at an altitude of about 300ft on 16 January, according to the report.

    Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed officers were "undertaking scene work" during the incident when "jets flew past and the drone was up".

    The force added: "In line with standard regulations, we flagged this with the Air Proximity Board, who meet a few times a year to look at these incidents.

    "They were content that there was no blame nor any lessons to be learned."
