    There's been a mass stranding of dolphins on Godrevy Beach at the end of St Ives Bay - the biggest in Cornwall for 10 years.

    Eleven dolphins were spotted by two visitors to Godrevy Head at about 07:00.

    They called for help and while waiting, floated eight of them back into the sea on the incoming tide.

    Three dolphins, two females and a calf, died.

    A Cornish marine group is running a campaign to tell people what they should and shouldn't put down street drains.

    The Newquay Marine Group is stencilling yellow fish symbols beside the town's drains - reminding residents any waste going down them could end up in the sea.

    It's part of a national scheme by the Environment Agency called the Yellow Fish Project , externalwhich highlights pollution risk caused to sea by pouring fat, oil and other waste down drains and gullies.

    It claims cigarette butts and detergents are a particular problem.

    The men and women from Kings Bowling Club in Torquay are the best in the UK.

    Both teams were victorious in the Men's and Women's National Top Club Competitions at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa on Sunday.

    A 59-year-old man has been arrested after suspected Class A drugs were found at a house, police have said.

    It happened on Sunday morning at an address in Hurrell Court, Kingsbridge.

    The drugs were seized and the man was arrested for possessing a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply.

    He was later released from Torquay Police Station under investigation.

    Gary Johnson took charge on the touchline for the first time and guided the Gulls to a 2-0 win.

    Driving too closely to the car in front is being blamed for crashes resulting in nearly 200 injuries in the South West during one single year.

    That's according to new figures from Highways England which also reveal one in eight injuries on England's motorways and major A-roads are caused by tailgating.

    The most recent figures from 2016 show tailgating resulted in 186 injuries in Devon and Cornwall in 12 months.

    The government-owned company believes only a small minority of tailgating is deliberate, with many drivers simply unaware they are dangerously invading someone else's space.

    It has launched a campaign, external named Don't Be A Space Invader - which is based on the popular arcade game.

    A man and a woman are in hospital after a crash in Cullompton on Sunday.

    Firefighters were called to reports of two people trapped in their vehicles near Horn Cross at about 17:20.

    Both were freed from their cars and taken to hospital by air and road ambulance, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

    Their injuries are not known.

    Plans to reopen a landfill site in Devon will be considered this week.

    The Heathfield site near Bovey Tracey was closed two years ago because the amount of residual waste was declining and more was being burnt at incinerators in Exeter and Plymouth.

    Now though, the rate of decline has slowed and waste managers want to start dumping waste at Heathfield again.

    Janette Parker is chairman of the local parish council - which is opposed to the dump reopening...

    Viridor, the operators, said it briefed locals before applying for planning permission and also gave them a site visit to explain the plan.

    It said this is the only "sensible option" to meet the region's waste requirements.

    County councillors will decide this week whether to allow the tip to reopen

    There's a yellow weather warning for wind in place across Devon and Cornwall from 18:00 until 08:00 on Tuesday, the Met Office has said., external

    Winds will be gusty due to Storm Helene, external approaching the South West.

    The Met Office added winds are likely to reach 55mph to 65mph quite widely in the warning area, with possible gusts of 70mph to 80mph in exposed places.
