    Police are investigating an alleged assault on a dog walker in Plymouth.

    The woman, in her 40s, is said to have sustained minor facial injuries in the attack.

    Police were called to Central Park on Friday 2 November at about 15:30.

    A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was released, pending further inquiries.

    Police have appealed for witnesses.

    There are warnings that severe gale force winds and torrential rains could cause dangerous conditions in several areas of south and west Cornwall.

    There have been alerts from the Met Office, which said rivers could flood and waves were expected to reach heights of up to 5m at some coastal locations.

    People are advised to stay away from coasts during high tides on Friday evening.

    Harbour staff in Looe said they were concerned because of southerly winds and high water, with the high tide due about 18:30. Harbour master Tina Hicks said it was the worst wind they had experienced since the storms of 2014, and that boats have broken free of their moorings.

    Drivers are being warned about the dangers of surface water, with reports of problems in the Glynn Valley.

    Homes in the Roseland area, Par and Liskeard have reported power cuts, external.

    Meanwhile, fire crews were called out to Penzance after a large plate of glass was blown into the street in high winds in the area of the town's promenade at about 15:30.

    A man has been injured after his BMW aquaplaned and flipped on to its roof on the A30.

    Police were called to the Okehampton side of Launceston at about 16:00 the car left the carriageway.

    Police said that the occupants of the BMW out of the car and one man had a "minor injury".

    Closures remain in place as emergency services continue working at the scene.

    A BMW burst into flames near shops in Exeter on Friday.

    Firefighters from Middlemoor were rushed to Whipton Barton Road at about 15.15.

    The fire, which was confined to the car's engine, was quickly by tackled fire crews.

    It is believed the cause was accidental.

    A shopping centre in Plymouth has been evacuated due to a fire.

    Three fire engines from Greenbank and Camels Head were rushed to the Armada Centre on Mayflower Street at about 14:55 on Friday.

    Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service say the fire started in a light fitting in Peacocks.

    Around 13 firefighters tackled the blaze, which caused the whole centre to be evacuated.

    One engine remains at the scene.

    It's believed the fire was started accidentally.

    • The Tamar Bridge is now closed to high-sided vehicles and there are lane restrictions in place
    • There are long delays for traffic heading into Cornwall, with queues of traffic on the A38 beyond the Manadon roundabout toward Marsh Mills
    • On the Torpoint Ferry, there's around a 45-minute wait at Devonport with just two ferries running from Torpoint
    • The Dartmouth Higher Ferry has suspended crossings due to very high winds
    • The Dartmouth Lower Ferry is still running at the moment
    • The Teignmouth to Shaldon ferry is running until 16:30, subject to the weather conditions
    • All ferries between Falmouth and St Mawes have been cancelled due to the weather conditions
    • No major problems are reported at Exeter Airport
    • At Lands End and Newquay airports, Skybus flights to and from the Isles of Scilly are on hold due to the weather conditions

    The Tamar Bridge, which connects Plymouth and Saltash, has been closed to "wind vulnerable vehicles" including high-sided, caravans and motorcycles.
