    A hairdresser in Plymouth is offering a unique service for people who suffer from anxiety.

    Former therapist, Dot Prout runs "peace and quiet" sessions where customers can have their hair cut in an empty salon.

    After 18 years as a psychotherapist, she retrained as a hairdresser and said she was struck by the "close connection" between the hairdresser and the customer.

    More wild flowers are being sewn in Cornish towns to help bees and butterflies.

    Urban Buzz has been organised by the charity Buglife, external, and involves planting wildflowers in towns and built-up areas to help attract insects and animals.

    Projects have already taken place in Truro, Wadebridge and St Austell, and Falmouth is the latest area to benefit.

    Towns and more urban places are good places to start this off because you've got a lot more people, and I think if you can get people on board with ideas like this, it really helps spread the word. So many people already do loads of bits and pieces in their garden, it's lovely that projects like this can get all those people out together and meeting each other and chatting. It is needed. It's needed everywhere and I think if everybody can do their bit, wherever they live, that would be really helpful."

    Police are appealing for help to identify the body of a man found on a beach at Instow.

    Officers were called to North Devon by the coastguard at about 14:20 on Thursday.

    They said little is known about the man, although it's believed he "may have been in the water for some time".

    He is described as white, about 5ft 8in (1.7m) tall and of proportionate build.

    It's also believed he may have had some facial hair, possibly a moustache, police added.

    He has two distinctive tattoos on his left arm - a red devil smoking a cigarette on his upper arm and the word "east" within a picture on his forearm.

    He was wearing distinctive navy blue New Balance trainers and two rubber wrist bands, one in support of Wales Online Cancer Research and the second featuring a heart.

    Anyone who recognises the description is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

    Devon runner Jo Pavey says she "just loves running" - after announcing on Thursday she is targeting her sixth Olympic Games next year.

    She'll be 46 when the games kick off in Tokyo in July 2020.

    Pavey was the oldest woman to win a European Championship gold medal when claiming the 10,000m title in 2014 aged 40 - just 11 months after giving birth.

    Lego fans from schools across the South West are gathering for the regional heat of a Lego league later.

    It's being held at City College Plymouth and is part of a global competition.

    Eighteen schools will compete against each other in a series of challenges with the final being held in Bristol in February.

    Residents in Torbay will be asked if they would like new town councils in Paignton and Torquay to help safeguard some of their services.

    Torbay Council has to cut almost £15m from its budget within the next three years due to cuts in government funding and an unexpected overspend in children's services.

    New councils in Torquay and Paignton would be able to raise their own money but that extra cash would be added to council tax bills.

    Anne-Marie Bond is the Director of Corporate Services for Torbay Council...

    Torbay Council is asking the public to let them know what they think, and to fill out a questionnaire on its website.

    If it were to happen, the new councils would be in place by May 2020.

    Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a 73-year-old man died when his car crashed into railings in Newquay.

    Officers were called to Henver Road at about 16:15 on Thursday.

    It's believed the man's Kia Venga hit some railings near the junction of Porth Way on the B3276.

    The two other passengers in the car were unharmed.

    Any witnesses are asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

    Work to protect residents and road users from the effects of a "one in 100-year storm" is being carried out in Looe.

    Grandmother Susan Norman was killed in the town when tonnes of earth engulfed her home in a landslide six years ago.

    Now, Cornwall Council has announced major drainage works in St Martin's Road to prevent surface flooding in another "100-year rainfall event".

    The main road into Looe will be closed for eight weeks from 16 February.

    Some morning sailings between St Mawes and Falmouth have been cancelled due to adverse sea conditions.

    The sailing affected are:

    • 09:00 from St Mawes to Falmouth's Prince of Wales Pier
    • 09:15 from St Mawes to Falmouth's Prince of Wales Pier
    • 09:45 from St Mawes to Falmouth Prince of Wales Pier

    A review of conditions will take place at 10:00.

    A car ended up on it's side and on fire following a crash in Lostwithiel last night.

    Emergency services were called to Cott Road just after 19:00 on Thursday evening.

    It's not clear whether anyone was hurt in the incident.

    Police are now investigating.

    The police helicopter was involved in the incident, which is thought to be linked to the theft of lead.

    Police are looking for a man, external who is wanted after failing to appear at court charged with being in possession of a stun gun.

    Curtis White, 33, was due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates' Court in June 2018, and officers also wish to speak to him regarding another offence of assault.

    Mr White is described as 6ft 2ins tall, of medium build, with short brown hair, green eyes and a number of tattoos, including a skull, Celtic band, voodoo doll and a pair of eyes on his forearms.

    Police say he is believed to be in Plymouth, and are asking for members of the public to report any sightings.

    A man has died after his car crashed into railings in Newquay.

    The air ambulance and other emergency services were called to the scene at Henver Road just after 16:00 on Thursday.
