Read MoreThe Conservative MP for St Ives has suggested the private sector should be considered to increase the speed of the Covid-19 vaccine rollout.
Derek Thomas said: "At the moment we're relying on NHS practitioners [and] GPs, but there are private companies who are able to get the vaccine out quickly and safely."
He explained people should not "underestimate the challenge" of the scale of rolling out the vaccine to millions of people in the UK.
The politician, who voted against the government imposing a lockdown in November, acknowledged the public health concern about the rising rates of Covid-19 in Cornwall.
Mr Thomas said: "I accept we've got to get on top of this, we're asking people to do really difficult things it's human nature to have social interaction."
The MP added he still believed he was right to vote against the earlier national lockdown and described the last three to four weeks as "very confusing" as Cornwall has "moved rapidly through to lockdown".
