  3. City wakes up to 'unspeakably awful' newspublished at 09:23 British Summer Time 13 August 2021

    An MP has said the city of Plymouth is waking up to "unspeakably awful" news.

    MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, Luke Pollard, who tweeted about the incident throughout Thursday night, said community centres, churches and schools would be opening across the Keyham area to "give people a space to be able to share their experience".

    He said: "We are bracing ourselves for more grim news today when potentially the names of the victims and more details come out from the police."

    Devon and Cornwall Police said investigations into the shooting are continuing.

    Officers remained on scene in Keyham throughout the night and marked patrol cars were stationed at cordons on roads close to the scene of the incident.

    Crime officers in white suits could be seen using cameras in the street.

    Wolseley Road remained closed in both directions between Saltash Road and Segrave Road on Monday.

    Surrounding roads including Henderson Place and Royal Navy Avenue were also closed.

    Police asked drivers to avoid the area.
