    Elaine Davies, from Burnham-on-Crouch, is warning people to check their prescriptions after she claims she was handed erectile dysfunction pills instead of migraine medication at a pharmacy.

  4. Lorry driver jailed over fatal M25 crashpublished at 17:14

    A lorry driver has been jailed after she hit and killed a motorcyclist while using her mobile phone on the M25 last year.

    Stana Caltun, 35, from Romania, was driving an articulated goods vehicle near west Thurrock when she struck 53-year-old Paul Garner on 18 September. 

    After pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Basildon Crown Court today, Caltun was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison and banned from driving for six years.

    Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to after a bar stool was thrown at a man in Epping.

    It happened at about 00:50 on 12 December in the Speak Easy Bar, High Street. 

    A 53-year-old man was left with a deep cut to the side of his head.

  7. Chelmsford Museum boss pleads for return of stolen Roman coinspublished at 16:16

    The boss of Chelmsford Museum says he hopes 14 stolen Roman coins will be returned soon.

    They were buried for safe keeping in the late Roman period, about 400 ADImage source, Essex Police

    The hoard was taken along with a security protected display cabinet while the attraction was open on 4 January. 

    Manager Nick Wickenden said the coins were worth "several hundred pounds each". Anybody who is offered the items should contact Essex Police. 

  8. Reward offered for whereabouts of 'dangerous' Basildon manpublished at 15:46

    Crimestoppers is offering a £2,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of a Basildon man who is described as being "dangerous".

    Johnny Bruce, 26, is wanted on recall to prison. Essex Police also wants to speak to him in connection with firearms offences, as well as robbery and assault. 

    He's described as white, 6ft 2in (1.87m) tall and of slim build with short brown hair. Members of the public are advised not to approach him.

  9. East Anglian rowing team win Atlantic racepublished at 15:13

    Four friends from East Anglia, including two from Essex, have rowed their way into the history books after winning the 3,000-mile Atlantic Challenge race.

    The team, in high spirits, told reporters how there hadn't been a "cross word" between them in the 37-day gruelling trip, which featured 40ft waves. They beat the previous record by four days.

  10. Thurrock Council challenges gypsy and traveller site planpublished at 14:49

    Thurrock Council has gone to the High Court to challenge planning permission granted to a gypsy and traveller site in Corringham.

    Last year a government planning inspector gave the go ahead for a development at Manor View in Southend Road. It allows for four pitches and the siting of up to eight caravans. 

    The council previously rejected the proposal because it said it would damage the green belt. No date has been fixed for the judgement to be given.  

  11. Holocaust survivor recalls father's capture by the Nazispublished at 14:30

    Otto Deutsch has lived in Essex for many years, but he first came to our county as one of the Kindertransport children - evacuated from Europe at the start of the Second World War. 

    Today, Mr Deutsch, now 87, whose parents and sister were shot dead, has recalled how his father was taken away by the Nazis.

    It's after a new report set out six recommendations for the future of the tower which has been derelict since the 1980s.

    A council is threatening to take action against anyone who deliberately sets out to harm visitors, external to Hockley Woods after booby traps were set for cyclists.

    • British Transport Police says it's treating the death of a man, whose body was found on the tracks at Southend Airport railway station this morning, as "unexplained"

    Ipswich Town have until Monday at 23:00 to try to strengthen their squad, if they wish to, before the transfer window closes. One name regularly linked with Ipswich is that of Colchester's George Moncur.

    Town striker Freddie Sears, who made the move from the Community Stadium to Portman Road himself a year ago, believes the midfielder is ready for Championship football.

    "He's done really well since going to Colchester," Sears said. "I'm sure, sooner or later, George will be playing at a higher level."

  17. Colchester's 'Jumbo' water tower report recommends 'high-level restaurant' conversionpublished at 12:11

    It has stood derelict since the 1980s, but a new report is recommending Colchester's "Jumbo" water tower should become a public monument with visitor attractions or a high-level restaurant.

    The study, written by the Colchester and North East Essex Building Preservation Trust, external sets out six possible options for its future.

    Other proposals set out include a museum, a residential flat conversion, or simply just to restore the tower with no use in mind.

    Two Essex men and two of their friends have sailed into the history books after tackling the "world's toughest rowing race" in record time.

    Angus Collins, from Burnham-on-Crouch, and Colchester's Joe Barnett, along with Gus Barton and Jack Mayhew, have arrived in Antigua after a 3,000 mile (4,828km) journey across the Atlantic. 

    The team left the Canary Islands 37 days ago, meaning they beat the previous Atlantic Challenge, external record by four days.

    Police are investigating after an eight-year-old boy was attacked by a dog in Rochford.

    The youngster was bitten by a Staffordshire bull terrier while walking in St Clare Meadow on 15 January. He was taken to hospital for treatment on a small puncture wound.

    Detectives say they are trying to locate a 12 to 14-year-old boy who was walking the dog. He is described as white, about 5ft (1.52m) tall with short, dark hair. 

  20. Greater Anglia: Disruption on London Liverpool Street line 'until 12:00'published at 10:59
